Subject: what If
have been thinking of how God has worked for and with Nathalie and Me for these many years and have wondered what would have been IF. for instance that Sunday in April 1926 IF Don Hunt had not been out there in front of the Church when Curt Ray and I drove up. we had seen him the day before in his folk's store (The Hunt's Variety Store) and he asked us where we go to Church -- we said we didn't go and he said that tomorrow I will be waiting for you in front of my Church (The Presbyterian Church) for Sunday School which starts at 10 o'clock. well we got up hurried with the chores, got dressed and decided we would go see and if he were out there we would go in and if he were not we would just drive back home and forget Church. Don was out there waiting with Blame O'Malley and Stuart Sikkink--we went in and have been going ever since. (But what if he had forgotten or just didn't really mean it) another what If: it was July, 10, 1928 I went to town to the Fisherman's Club in the Church and also had a date for afterward with some kids who laughed at Church. but that night during the meeting somehow God spoke to me and I decided I would ask Pastor Paul if I could take him home (for some reason he had walked to Church that night)) and talk with him about what the meeting had brought to me. if he said yes ok, if not I would just go to that date and forget the things that came to me-- he said yes and that night I accepted the Lord Jesus and my life was changed. I never went with that other crowd again. What IF he had said no? another: In Northwestern Bible School in one of our English Classes my name followed the name Nathalie Rhoads in the class roster, in an assignment one day Mrs Riley, the teacher, appointed us two to do a class project together.. we did and got acquainted, and have been working together on projects for 67 years. What if Mrs. Riley had not coupled us together for that project? and As I came from seeing Nathalie today I was remembering 20 years ago when we came to Atherton to see the then CEO about our coming to Atherton – he just sort of shrugged and said well put in your name but I doubt if you will ever make it- he knew our financial situation.. then the Lord changed CEOs and Art Hyde came in and 18 years ago wre came to see him and he immediately brought us to the house on the corner of 6th Street and Commonwealth and told us this would be ready for us in about 6 months if we wanted it--we did and we moved in in September that year. 1984. now in our real need the door has opened for care for Nathalie in this wonderful way. but what if the Lord hadn't changed the CEOs at that time? and for a long time our three Kids tried to persuade their dad to get a computer and I just laughed and said I had enough trouble with a typewriter, so one day they decided to do something about the old man and here came a keyboard and contraption to hook up to our TV for email. Wow what if or kids had let me have my way?
