Hi,
Thanks to all of you for coming to Suzette & Michael's wedding and staying a little longer to enjoy the place & company! I really enjoyed seeing you--brings back good memories and adds a few more.
Thought you'd enjoy Susan's former pastor's comment on Ellensburg--from years ago!
Susan's enjoying the beach with Sherrill, Mike and Dorothy. Suzette & Michael are flying through the Grand Canyon today. And I've just finished my first day orientation to this international assignment. I still don't have details for hotel in Nairobi...

our Ministerial Association in Ellensburg WA had a real example of this one year. a bar in town decided they wanted to start a topless bar situation from 9 pm to 1 am the Police Chief was strong against it because of the problems they would have but some of the folk from the
College in Ellensburg were strong for it. So the city council called for a meeting to decide and announced there would be opportunity for people from the city to speak. so we pastors decided we would be there in full force. the afternoon of the meeting we met as a group for prayer and planning how to present our objection. we prayed for an hour and then took time to plan our presentation. we had prayed for guidance and for the ability to stay calm and not react to any thing that might be said

against us. (we had heard there would be plenty--and there was) the evening was somewhat difficult -- those who wanted the bar were really mean in their attacks on the pastors for our stand, but we were able as a group to take it and not show any anger (tho I confess inside me at least there was some) then when the vote was taken it was turned down. then the next night as we were sitting in our living room which faced the street suddenly there was a big thud and bang as something hit the house right beside the window we went out and saw a bottle of beer had been thrown against the house - likely aimed at the window but missed it by a couple inches and scattered all over (really a miracle because at that time Nathalie was sitting right in front of that window) two other pastors had the same thing happen when this was made known by the media there was a lot of strong sentiment against that bar owner - tho likely he had nothing to do with that. but the Lord still had something to say to him:: one day his two year old daughter found the end of an extension cord and put it in her mouth it was plugged into a socket and the result was a terrible burn inside and outside her mouth they rushed her to the hospital and in the burn care unit one of the nurses who attended our church called me to ask for prayer for her SO thinking this was a chance for GOD to speak to that man, I immediately called all the pastors and asked them to pray that she would be healed without a scar. one pastor said, Art that is a pretty big request" my reply but our God
is BIGGER than that" so we did actually pray for that. AND next morning when the doctor came to look at that little girl, there was no sign of her having been burned. God had come through. the Mother was profuse of course in her thanks the man - well, he

never said anything but it wasn't long before he was rid of the bar and in other business.
wish I could make a full report on him but we left Ellensburg soon after that and had no way of follow up BUT I have never forgotten how GOD came through in answer to prayer that was big and took a BIG GOD to answer and HF is our God--wow! in Him this comes with love to all and a prayer for your tomorrow.
