while pastor in Sedro Woolley Washington we found so often this worked. those were rather bleak years for most people - salaries were low and many people were out of work and in Sedro Woolley being the only Baptist Church for miles north into the heart of the lumber area I was asked to be the pastor for many funerals and weddings one funeral I remember especially was for a young mother - I had not met the husband and the children (three of them all under 8 years) but the Funeral Home man had suggested to him I be called so I went to meet the family and saw how poor they really were - had a little farm of about 20 acres but not much income, except as he could get work in the lumber mill. so after the service in the funeral home and then at the graveside he gave Mr Lemley three dollars for me - and as he gave it to me I realize couldn't accept it knowing how little they had so asked Mr Lemley to give it back with my thanks but ask the man to use it for his children, well Mr Lenmley did and then suggested to the man that he remember us occasionally with a sack of vegetables or corn or potatoes. well in a few days there was a sack of things on our porch with no name but I had seen him put it

there. later I saw him and as we talked I mentioned how happy we were that "some one" remembered us with a sack of vegetables just when we needed some. this went on for two years (until we left S W) and our friendship grew and he and the children became members of our Church family. AND in those two years I had five weddings from among his friends whom he had suggested they come to me for the wedding. AND in each case I got a five dollar bill--Eccl. 11:1 worked. God's Word always does. count on it .... love to you all Dad Unc Gramp Friend
