n.d. 11 23 2000 ? Rog to family
Dear all,
Thanks for your love and prayers for Mom. She is recovering rapidly from the moderately severe heart attack that began last Tuesday evening at our home in Atlanta. The hospital staff have been superb. Only the toilet paper is rough—one consequence of cost-cutting in HMOs.
She has enjoyed reading Sam Pitroda's biography and Bai Jui—Chinese poetry written about 800 AD. I have enjoyed the extra time with her immensely. She couldn't have chosen a better time or place for a first heart attack.
[11 22 2000] John & Ruth Rochat and Margaret Johnson left Friday for Paris where they met Danielle Weeks. John called from the Louvre this morning. Good trip—but missing Mom!
Thanks to God for all good things—and to each of you for your love and care. I hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. Mom, too, thanks all for prayers—but says there are many who need them more! Most of the time, she is full of bounce and eager to get out and come home. I don't yet know whether she will use her ticket for the December 14 flight to California.
Affectionately,
Roger and Susan Rochat 1010 Liawen Court, Atlanta, GA 30329-4122 phone 404-321-6845

Since sleep does not come I'll take the time to tell you what has happened at this end of the world. Our focus Sunday [11 17 2000] on "Jesus only" gave me a warm send off from Denver. Truly that is the reason that I can write.
[11 20 2000 Mon] Roger met me on his birthday November 20 at Atlanta airport—so good to be met. I had a good nite's sleep before meeting my sister Margaret Tuesday. In the meantime, cold descended. Fifteen degrees with wind chill meant water had to be drained etc from outside pipes and boat 50miles away. Both Roger and Susan were gone for this. I was left to answer the door and phone but—
The doorbell rang. Dr. Alice from next door said Susan wanted her to check on me. It was 9 PM or so when she decided I needed help. Roger returned with Margaret from the airport, and Alice and Roger took me to the emergency room 5 minutes away. Doc Doug Morris took me right in. They gave me nitroglycerine and other medications—and Roger says I developed low blood
pressure and was incoherent and unable to answer questions. No one had my medical history so his hands were tied—he wanted to do angioplasty to find and correct the block in my heart artery.
Roger took him out of the hospital (so the cell phone would work) and called John in Hawaii. Sure enough, John hadn't boarded the plane yet. Five minutes later he couldn't be reached.
They took me to the cath lab at midnight, found a total block in the right coronary artery, and used a balloon to remove the blockage before 1 AM. This is one thankful lady for His loving care through many loving hands. I may miss a schedule or two but He's aware of each step.
And thanks to each one that has followed in your heart.
Because of Christ. Mary R.
PS. Mom was discharged from hospital at 11:30 this morning and came home for a light lunch and rest. We're trying to obtain the medications she needs to start. She has a tentative appointment here for December 20 for GI problems unrelated to the heart attack.
More later. Roger
