North Avenue International Class
May 26, 2000 by Susan Rochat
The International class at North Avenue
Is a varied bunch of believers who
Come together each Sunday to pray and to sing
The praises of Christ their Redeemer and King.
This class is unique, it is truly a mix
Of peoples from nations right out of National Geographic
Kenya & Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon
Puerto Rico, China, India, Sierra Leone.
There are writers, professors, a judge & a Prince
There’s even a maker of very fine quince
Song leaders, a carpenter, administrators & teachers of the Word
Many talents abound, I’m sure you have heard
The Matties will love you, Judge Frank he will teach
Ana & Mina will sing, Grace’s prayers heaven will reach
Our missionary Carmen will bring new friends to this place
Mary Virginia will quiet your heart & mind’s pace.
Eugene will bring donuts and keep us on track
Jewel will count us and Phyllis give us flack
Sankar and Tom Roddy will have a joke or two
Aimon,Glad, Moores and Potts you will find in the back.
Karanjas and Mburus will always look great
Marie & Rochats will be somewhat late
The Barnes & Hastiens will inspire, Lynn Westergaard too
And without George Weber we wouldn’t have a clue.
How to stay on key when we sing the hymns
But a joyful noise is what we bring
To the Lord on Sunday morning in Room 402
And I believe it’s now time to bid you adieu.
If you’ve tried other classes and feel out of place
Then this is the one where you’ll feel the embrace
The warmth of believers from all the world ‘round
The grace of God’s love right here can be found.
PS If you’ve been left out, please don’t be offended
This poem can always be radically amended.
