Another 'marriage memory' from the old pastor who just celebrated his 67th anniversary, that would give Susan and me another 32 years together—but wonder if I'll have one-tenth of his retentive memory!!
When we drove to Peoria last week, we stopped for evening meal in Farmer City, Illinois (pop 2050). Well, you may never have heard of Farmer City, but it was the first town & first motel we landed in after getting married in 1966. The place is the pits. Was, is, and probably will be. ...not near as good a memory as Art has of his 1935 staying with friends memories!!
Cheers. Roger

well some where I had heard that "the better the day the better the deed" So we chose to paint the car on Sunday. after going to Hinckley to the church were I went as a teen ager and dinner at the folks place, we parked the car in the shade of one of those apple trees in the back yard which was in full bloom with beautiful pink and white blossoms --yep had a can of Royal Green paint and a two inch brush and had just finished doing an excellent job and was admiring it along with others who admired my work WHEN one of the things we called in Arizona a "dustdevil" but in Minnesota a whirlwind came whirling past that Apple tree and picked most of those beautiful blossoms and whirled them all over the new fresh paint on the car. what aspecime? (that is misspelled because my work was spoiled I thought)(and Also because I hit the wrong keys) was tempted to use one of my mom's favorite expressions with emphasis "Shoot The Cats" but dad was wiser than I who wondered how to pick every bloom off that car —he just said," let it dry until tomorrow and then rub it with a towel and see what happens". we did and lo and behold every bloom rubbed of and never left a mark. some how my dad had gotten a lot wiser than I used to think--specially when I didn't want to do as he said. Then that afternoon the family and friends in the area had a shower for us-- and Monday morning we loaded up that old coupe and I mean loaded, and headed for North Dakota. it is great when you are broke to have friends along the way where you can stop for the night. one night we stopped at my friend. Abe Lowens, home and one night with one of Nathalie's friends and then on Wednesday got to her home in Glenburn --where that night the folk from First Baptist Church came for the "shivaree" and I think Nathalie's brothers were also involved cause
