I enjoy Art's daily e mails, but have gotten out of the habit of passing them on. Hope you enjoy this. Roger (Art was Susan's pastor in Khargpur during her early days there.)

We are in Khargpur, India for this one-- getting settled was not too easy, our freight didn't come with us SO we had to make do for many things, but at that time the Principal of the Khargpur School was moving to England and selling their entire household furniture so we made a good deal and pretty well stocked our parsonage. But was time for the kIds to go to school and that school was in the Landour Hills a long train ride from home. If we left Khargpur on the Monday morning train to Calcutta then the Dehras Dun Express to Debra Dun and then by bus up the hills to the school would get there sometime Wednesday afternoon. But our problem was that since our freight had not come, we did not have the necessary things for the kids to go into boarding SO we went up with the school party and rented a house where Nathalie kept a place for our kids and some other missionary kids while I went back to Khargpur.. It was for me, VERY lonely, our house was not small lots of rooms, four bathrooms two kitchens big veranda on each floors, and at night after all Church things were over, was mighty empty. Will never forget one night, a letter came from Nathalie (which usually took 5 or 6 days to come) told me Vicky was not well. And here I was--that far away. I was sitting in my study trying to work on Sunday's message, and thinking about my family way up there --and it seemed nothing jelled--So picked up the Calcutta Newspaper an there was a notice of a freight ship leaving Calcutta in about three weeks and had room for five more passengers--WOW , I could get the family back-from school and be ready to leave for Seattle Washington on that ship. Then it hit me, I better talk with the Lord about this since He was the One Who had brought us to Khargpur. So began praying and telling the Lord how awful it was to be so alone when a voice came clear, from behind me over my right shoulder--a Voice I recognized, was that One I had heard in Central Baptist Church Spokane that day in 1945. And the words came clear to me, "You are not alone, I am with you always" I turned quickly but of course could see no one, but the Presence in that little study was awesome. That newspaper quickly went into the trash, and though many times we had to be separated in India I never again felt i was alone. And today Nathalie is in Fox Hall room 117 and I am in The Villa room 31, yet we are never alone. Like that old song puts it:: "God's Word and
