got a bulletin from Whitworth the other day and it reminded me of my years in that school. especially the Senior year. 1946. that was the year we were appointed as Missionaries to Bengal Orissa India and that we finally set sail the day before Christmas. but this is about that last year in school. Whitworth then did not have Phi Beta Kappa but had Phi Alpha same standards(a 2.3 average out of a possible 3) and in my senior year I was the president of that society. we were responsible for the chapel once each quarter and once that year we had an actress whose name I can't remember but I do know when I saw her in a "Love Boat Scene" I remembered her at once. It was my privilege to introduce her. she gave her personal testimony and then talked about making life worthwhile and closed by reciting The Battle Hymn of The Republic. as she spoke you could tell that the Lord was real to her. and especially that last stanza: she changed the wording a bit to make it personal: "As He died to make men holy, I must live to set men free for Christ now lives in me".. really spoke to us all. then at graduation: we had

just been appointed at our National Convention in Grand Rapids that year and when my name was called for the diploma Dr Warren had Nathalie and the kids stand and led in a prayer for us and for our work in India that too was a moment I will never forget -- had goose bumps all over. but a fun time was in PE in which that quarter I took Judo. our teacher was a former Marine instructor in Judo and he was good then for our final exam each pupil was to go five minutes with him and he emphasized to us - really DO IT. well when it was my turn I thought maybe I will last a minute as most of them did, but we went to nearly the end and he made one of his moves which started with a feint to throw the opponent off guard BUT I saw it and slipped in quick and threw him flat. wow did1 feel good!!! and got an A in PE that quarter.. .memories. love them and love all of you. have a good day tomorrow since it is another day the Lord will have made for you to rejoice and be glad in.
