Singing the blues (post surgery)
Susan Rochat, August 15, 2007
Sing to tune “Don’t fence me in”
Take some time, drop me a line, underneath these summer skies
Just don’t catheterize.
Let me walk, let me talk in this neighborhood I so prize
But don’t catheterize
Oh let me be by myself in the evening breeze
Listening to cicadas in the old oak trees
Send me off forever without a catheter please
Don’t catheterize
Doing fine, still can rhyme, and my life would be sublime.
If you don’t catheterize
Turn me loose, like a goose and I’ll ride the old caboose.
But don’t catheterize
Have I made my point so clear in this hospital sphere
Won’t you listen to my pleas for no catheter drear
Or to the western mountains I might just disappear
Don’t catheterize.
You’ve crimped my style, ‘twill be awhile before it’s safe again to smile
For you have catheterized
With a bag and a tube, I hope this ain’t too crude
Yes, I’ve been catheterized.
Life moves on , friends stay strong, but I’m singing the blues
Know this won’t make CNN or Headline News
Right now I’d rather be on an Alaskan cruise
But I am catheterized.
--same?
