Got a nice long letter from Mom & from Rich today. Rich-as he has probably written is presently rooming with my old buddy Alex Martin; and I trust getting along together moderately well.
I also received notice from Des Moines College of Osteopathy Medicine with statement that it cost $25 to apply. I immediately decided that they weren’t scarcely worth consideration. (I’ll at least wait 2-3 mos. Before applying) I would naturally accept an offer from one of the best schools first if I got it. IT’s interesting to note that the number of applicants that good schools are getting is diminishing (UR got 900 instead of 1100 as in ’59 last year) This naturally betters my chances.
I was held after voice class today & the dear prof told me he thot there wasn’t anything he could do for me. Said I was tone deaf. Attempting to cover my deep sighs of relief & joy, I told him I’d let his class progress normally in near absentia only if he could prove to me that I was tone deaf. He gentlemanly related that Eastman Sch. Of Music had a music test which could decide with 98% accuracy whether I’m tone deaf or not. We’ll see. Something’s obviously wrong somewhere, that’s for sure.

Just turned in my application this aft. To be UR representative @panel discussions about Kennedy’s Peace Corps in New York Oct 14 wkend. Hope I get it-it means free trip down to New York & back.
Bob Davis, Jim Glennie & I are planning on driving down to Wash DC the following wkend (Oct. 19-21) when I want to get an interview from Johns Hopkins Med Sch.
Which is why I didn’t say anything specific about Seattle area, Mom-U of Wash. Really isn’t at the top of my list anymore; I think it’d be terrific country to be in (advantages of skiing, boating waterskiing, job opportunities for the kids, etc. would be great. Naturally there’s cons. I don’t know if they have any Ruth & Ernie Storrer, Clarence & Evelyn Berney’s etc over in that area. If I were @ home, I’d certainly 2nd the motion to move-if the right job opportunity presented itself in a satisfactory place, etc. i.e. unless there was strong objection against it, I’d give it serious consideration to prayer (whether I go to med. Sch. There or not. But then I far form see all sides to the picture. Another possibility would be to leave the question wide open, check all possibilities & then spend 2-3 months up on the Olympic Peninsula next summer.
Which brings up another thing. There’s strong possibilities that I’ll be working here for Dr. Adolph next summer-I’m also going to apply for work with chem. Companies, tho. (I’d love nothing better than to get a short time money making job in the great northwest (charies (?) are naturally very poor).
Enuff for now. Am anxious to hear from my hard working sisters & John sometime.
Love to all,
Rog
