Mrs. Schiffer is a great teacher here at Lehighton. When asked what motivated her to become a teacher, Mrs. Schiffer stated that she was born a teacher. She always knew that she wanted to be involved in a teaching career.

“You’re a teacher by nature.” Mrs. Schiffer added.

A graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a major in political science and a minor in psychology, Mrs. Schiffer decided to become a high school history teacher. “Why teach at a high school level?”

“The content is nice; the age range is great, it’s a transitional period, and a time to determine one’s future.” Mrs. Schiffer replied

History is an interesting subject, but that’s not the only reason Mrs. Schiffer chose to teach it. Mrs. Schiffer enjoys the cause and effect involved with history. Also, she loves learning how we got to where we are.

“What made you want to teach at Lehighton?”

“Lehighton is a small community, with great students.” She stated

Though teaching is a serious subject it also has its funny moments. Mrs. Schiffer recalled that her funniest moments include: when she sat on the back of a desk, on her first day of teaching, and fell of the back, and when she attempted rap battles with her students.
