Walter Mitty's Adventure

By Lily McDonough '21

April 2019

Walter a daydreamer is not who he seems,

People describe him as boring,

Living his own little dream;

Sean sends photos but one is missing,

Walter staring at danger right in the face,

Flying with a drunk pilot gave a push,

Greenland a cold, strange place;

Sean not on boat, nowhere to be seen,

Iceland becomes next adventure,

Biking beside beautiful mountains,

Long heavy, hot, handy, high speed highway,

Volcanoes very visible in distance,

Eruptions like charcoal as dark as ink;

Goes home, lost job at LIFE,

Finds mom’s piano full of immortal life,

Glossy, brown oak, old memories alive,

Information of Sean’s location found,

Himalayas colder, light blue, timeless,

Hiking, traveling, meeting warlords,

Photos of “ghost cat” untaken, Sean found,

Wallet is key, mom saved knick knacks of his,

The photo is a pure treasure,

Walter will remember forever,

Dreams shall not take him over no more.
