High School Survival Tips

As high schoolers, many of us think mainly of one thing: our grades. There is so much pressure placed on teenagers to do well in school, but no one ever really talks to us about what high school actually means. Here are a few things that I have learned throughout my years in school:
- It is never a good idea to wait until the last minute. - Always make sure to do work as soon as you receive it. School work has a tendency to pile up when left untouched. You will stay on top of your work by completing it right away, even if it is not due for awhile. This will also ensure that you never have any missing work and your grades will not suffer.
- Ask for help if you need it. - Never be afraid to ask questions or for help. Teachers are almost always willing to give assistance to those who ask for it. If you are confused, it is best to just ask questions. Chances are that someone else has the same questions as you.
- Never think you do not have to study. - Even if you are comfortable with the material that is going to be on your quiz or test, you should always study. There will always be something that you can review, and that is perfectly okay. Studying and practicing truly make all the difference in your overall grade.
- Do not focus on your mistakes. - As high school students, we have to understand that our mistakes do not define us. Our mistakes are not the end of the world, even though they may often feel that way. If something goes wrong, do not dwell on it. Try to move forward and look to improve next time.
- Understand that high school is only a small part of your life. - High school is only four years. To some it feels like a day and to others it feels like a decade. It probably seems like the only thing that matters now, but it will not really matter in the grand scheme of things. High school is just a tiny piece of our lives.
