January 2019

The beginning of a new year calls for exciting times: parties, food, and waiting for the Times Square Ball to drop on TV. Other things that often comes with a new year are new year’s resolutions. New year’s resolutions are traditions in which people try to change something about themselves, to accomplish a personal or collective goal, or to improve their overall life. The most common resolutions include eating healthier, working out, and saving more money.

Having a new year’s resolution can be an amazing way to motivate yourself towards improvement. It can be a very good way to start working towards a new goal at the beginning of a year so by the end, change can be seen. Although resolutions can change your life for the better, there are also downsides to this tradition.

It can be extremely hard to change an entire aspect of your lifestyle, and many resolutions deal with these. Sometimes, it is better to slowly incorporate something into your life. New year’s resolutions can be overwhelming and sudden, especially if they are major. They can sometimes be hard to stick with, making people feel bad about being unable to stick with them.

Change is always difficult, no matter how big or small. New year’s resolutions can be fun and exciting ways to introduce change into your everyday life. If your resolution proves to be challenging to adapt to, do not get discouraged. If you truly want to change over the new year, keep working slowly towards achieving your goals. Let’s all make 2019 an amazing year and work towards our resolutions!
