What is the correct procedure for shifting the odds back towards 1:1 from odds that were lower than 1:6.
a) 1:6 +05 (due to being 1:7 odds) -> 1:4 +05 -> 1:2 +05 or
b) 1:7 (=1:6 +05) -> 1:6 -> 1:4
i.e does the base 1:6 stay and the modifiers carry on, or do we shift back from the (imaginary) smaller odds towards 1:6 and then continue if necessary. I’m currently ruling the latter (b), but started to think if the other one is the more valid way.
Use actual odds shifts for all off table columns and column shifts within the table.
Example:
1 to 10 with tracking long burst becomes 1 to 8, resolved as 1-6 +10
Your case:
1 to 7 becomes 1 to 6, then 1 to 4, resolved as 1 to 4, no off table modifier.
1 to 8 becomes 1 to 7, then 1 to 6, no off table modifier.
1 to 9 becomes 1 to 8 then 1 to 7, resolved as 1-6 +05

We are having a discussion in one of our games about this subject
Example
Odds of 5:15 become odds of 1:3. I have always rounded down to 1:4, but should we be using 1:2 with a +05 modifier, as per Message 2710 below, or does JDs ruling to Matti's question (Message 2708) only apply for shots "off the chart"
1:3 odds must use the 1:4 column to resolve shots as there is no 1:3 column and they did not qualify for 1:2 odds shots.
The rules specifically limit the use of excess FP to 1:1 or greater odds for a reason - playability.
My answer only applied to how to handle off chart odds. On chart odds are resolved normally with the next available table that was qualified for.
