A Wing Critical was scored on one Pete, with the “landing gear damaged” result.
The Pete have no Landing Gear per See, it have its float.
So,
(1) Does this text from 11.2 applies ?
“Critical damage rolled which does not apply to an A/C or which repeat one-time events become "no effect" criticals instead.”
(2) Or is the float assumed to be the landing gear for that A/C, and that the “landing gear damaged” critical is a float damaged critical, with the same result as the landing gear damaged ?
We were going to assume that the answer was (1), but then that would mean that floats on floatplanes can never be damaged. This would seem odd.
There should be a note on the ADC regarding this that says:
“Floatplane fighter with no landing gear (Landing gear damage results = damaged floats).”

D10 WING Critical Effects (visible damage)
6 Roll D10, odd = landing gear damaged, even = flaps jam.
D10 EQUIPMENT Critical Effects
2 Landing gear jammed, fixed gear, skids or floats damaged.
3 Gear / flap systems hit, retractable landing gear trails down
unless jammed, and flaps jam in place. If A/C has fixed gear,
skids or floats, these items are damaged.
Personally, I would rule that Wing Crit #6 results in "Floats Damaged".
Rationale:
Jammed landing gear = floats damaged.
Gear hit = floats damaged.
Landing Gear damaged => Gear hit => floats damaged.

I would think that an updated Rufe ADC would contain the
same note as the Pete. Center floats are interesting in that these also
contained fuel tanks to give the aircraft additional range. These are items
that should have ADC specific notes.

This seems like a case where common sense should apply and result in float damage. Which should make it harder to land.
Even for flying boats without the wing floats, one would imagine that hull damage would make landing more difficult.
