When firing, the turn rate used carries a modifier from TT (for M or H class) and harder
Does the modifier apply if the a/c used the rate at any time during it's move, or only if it is using such a rate at the end of it's turn? And is it for transitions as well as turns?
I can't seem to find clarification in any of my rule sets, but I have always believed that the hardest rate used applies, even if it was used at the start of a move (or did I dream it!!)
Apologies, I'm having a senior moment and starting to doubt myself ;-)
You have it right.

Thanks Bill
For my peace of mind, where is it explained in the rules?
The Combat Tables, Page 1, is the only place it is "defined".
Turn rate "used" means carried turn (even if dropped immediately
prior to first FP), any completed turn, an incomplete turn, and any
transition rates.
The only specific textual reference is
"10.4 - OTHER AIR COMBAT Considerations
Bombers as Fighters: H, M, or MF class with fixed guns use
the same rules as other A/C except the modifiers for TT, HT, and
BT rates are the larger ones listed in the Air-to-Air Gun Combat
Modifiers Table (Combat Tables, Page 1)."
