While I was at the fridge,
Replenishing my thirst,
On the door hung a calendar,
I was thinking of the worst...
As I looked a little closer,
A date was circled in bright red...
The 14th of February,
It was that day that I some blokes dread...
It was Valentine’s Day,
And I had forgotten again once more...
The wife will be home soon,
And she’ll be cross with me for sure...
Now I’ve got to think quick,
There’s just no time to lose...
I've got to clean up the house,
And go and hide the booze...
Then out to the front yard,
I was searching high and low...
For a nice floral arrangement,
To wrap up in a bow...
It looked a little shabby,
But no time left to spare...
As tonight was the night,
That romance fills the air...
I slapped up quite a feed,
With bangers and some mash...
I really went out all tonight
I thought that menu was just flash...
A couple of candles,
That I found in the bottom draw...
Which I placed on the table,
To match the alluring décor...
So now I just sit waiting,
For the missus to eventually show...
As she came through the door,
Her face all a glow...
Then I said a few choice words,
Romantically of course...
Just like Prince Charming would,
While upon his trusty horse...
She was overwhelmed,
With the effort that I made...
And she told me our that our love,
Would never ever fade...
She nearly bought me to tears,
As she told me her plea...
How could she could not go on,
Without a bloke like me...
So it just goes to show,
You don’t have to go and spend too much...
On this Valentine’s day,
Just simply keep in touch...
