It’s no wonder that us Aussie’s,
Are finding out that we're unfit...
Our lifestyles are always changing,
There’s more time for us to sit...
It's made our lives much easier,
And we all can feel a so smug...
When you no longer have to worry,
About boiling dry that electric jug...
Can you remember that old toaster,
There’s one thing that you learnt...
As you stood there by its side,
To save the toast from being burnt...
The TV was another thing,
No remotes to lose back then...
Getting up and down,
To change a channel time and time again...
We were all good athletes,
Back in the day it seems...
As today's modern appliances,
Were only visions in our dreams...
Constantly we went walking,
At least several times a day...
As travelled to the outhouse,
That seemed a mile away...
You also got a workout,
By simply getting behind the wheel...
Without that power steering,
You had arms that felt like steel...
Even to start the Victa,
Always seemed a choir...
As you tried to pull start the thing,
Twenty times or more...
These days we are baffled,
When the remote has been misplaced...
As we sit in desperation,
And a little bit red faced...
How to turn it on,
Without moving for my seat...
Can be the cause for great concern,
And certainly a feat...
Your heart begins to race,
A lump develops in your throat...
It’s amazing how dependent,
We’ve all become of this little old remote...
