Straya Day
Aussie’s everywhere;
Everywhere I roam...
So many bloody tribes
That have called Australia home...
There’s the Abo’s and the Yobo’s,
The Muslim’s and the Greeks...
The Kiwi’s and the Lebo’s,
The Chinese and the Sikh’s...
There’s the Jap’s and the Italian’s,
The Serb’s and Pommie’s too...
The German’s and those Pakistani’s,
And the Pole’s to name a few...
We are all in this together,
Australian as can be...
Although our tans are different,
We all love this great country...
Football, meat pies,
Kangaroo’s and Holden cars...
Vegemite and barbecue’s,
Long weekends and hotel bars...
We like to tell a yarn,
Which the truth is seldom told...
It sounds a whole lot better,
When drinking XXXX gold...
So go on and grab your mates,
Whack on a pair of thongs...
Be a silly bugger,
Start dancing to those songs...
Say G’day and Owyagoin,
As you’re walking down the street...
Confront them with a smile,
All those drongo’s that you meet...
Have yourself a Barbie,
Or some backyard cricket mate...
Cooo-eeee, bloody beauty,
It’s our time to celebrate...
