The Story Of State Of Origin Football
The first game was in Sydney,
Nineteen hundred and eight,
It marks the birth of Origin,
The clash between two states..
26 men played football,
In a bid to win some fame...
But most of them played union,
So they had to change their game...
Queensland got a thrashing,
The score was 43 Nil...
And the Blues wins lasted 13 years,
Before Queensland made their kill...
These stalwart men of rugby league,
Played hard to turned the tide...
With Queensland winning the next 5 straight,
They soon regained their pride...
We owe these blokes a cheer,
These men with hearts of gold...
As the game of State of Origin,
May never have been told...
A hundred years have passed us by,
And the legends come and go...
History books rewritten,
As they prepare to face their foe...
The game still has that excitement
That comes with every try...
It’s Blues against Maroons,
Queenslander comes the cry...
So let’s us all keep the faith,
Whether your maroon or blue...
Support the boys from Origin,
Your State is calling you...
