There was an accident at Starra Mine,
Quite some years ago...
When old mate buried a bogger,
There was nowhere left to go...
As the dirt and rocks rilled down,
The bogger was lost beneath ore...
It was soon to be challenge,
That lasted a week or more..
They pushed and they pulled,
They tried everything they knew...
It seemed to have them stumped,
No mattered what they’d do...
Then they had a great idea
To come in from another way...
Just a couple of metres to mine,
And they would find out where it lay...
A few days later of blasting,
And they finally broke through...
There it lay just waiting,
For that mining crew...
But they were surely cursed,
It wasn’t as simple as it seemed...
Their hopes were soon all dashed,
It shattered all their dreams...
As they worked together,
To get that bogger out...
They didn’t see that work ute,
That was without a doubt...
It was flattened beyond repair,
The celebrations were bitter sweet...
Yet more paperwork to fill out ,
They really felt the heat...
Now they’ve had their share of bad luck,
To retrieve that bogger from beneath the gold...
Yet the story will live on for many years,
And a good old yarn be told...
