The Mighty Men Of Merlin
A year or two had passed,
Since they were down the mine...
Where the days were always dark,
And sun would never shine...
Now this motley crew of misfits,
Spent most of their time up on top...
But the yarns of and how they mined,
Would never ever stop...
All missed the days of old,
And they seemed a little bored...
They thought their skills were wasted,
They felt they were ignored...
And then finally came the day,
There was hope for all these men...
They were given another challenge,
Underground again...
The purse strings were very tight,
But still the deal was done...
We would win the contract,
At $50 bucks a tonne...
It was down in Merlin mine,
Little Wizard was the place...
The boys were all ecstatic,
They had smile upon their face...
They were sent to mine Molybdenum,
Something never done before...
This is what they wanted,
It was what they waited for...
Now it was a different sort of mining,
No explosives would be found...
Some other way was needed,
To get the dirt upon the ground...
So the first cut it was taken,
It was an excavator they used...
They seemed to be dumb founded,
And a little bit confused...
The ground was very soft,
And this moly was sticky stuff...
It kept staying in the bucket,
The going was really tough...
They saved money wherever they could,
They had the camel’s carry ore...
It was a slow old trip,
And their backs were bloody sore...
They made it to the top,
And their stockpile was seen for miles...
All the Moly soon was mined,
So they had the biggest smiles...
These bunch of bloody misfits,
Had done the impossible once again...
The Mighty Men of Merlin,
Are damn fine Mighty Men...
