In the early hours of the morning,
3am to be precise
I am awoken by a noise
that isn't really nice
It's my mobile phone,
I hear bells ringing in my head
Should I hit the snooze
and spend another minute in my bed?
It would seem like an eternity,
just to lay there in my sleep
But I must get up and get ready,
as I've got a job to keep
I stand up like a zombie,
stiff and sore from little rest
I make my way outside,
and put my senses to the test
Still not yet fully conscious,
I feel my way around the room
I dare not wake the missus,
or my life would end in doom
Into the toilet,
to the seat of solitude
I sit there nodding off,
while posing in the nude
Suddenly I awake,
when my elbow starts slipping off my lap
Then race into the shower,
quickly turning on the tap
Once you're in the shower,
it feels so great for just a while,
When you realize where you’re going,
there's little time to smile
Getting dressed in the dark,
has its drawbacks that's for sure
Like putting your shirt on backwards
or walking in the door
But I've done alright;
I have a bit of time tucked up my sleeve
I have at least 3 minutes,
before it's finally time to leave
So I race around the house
and kiss my family goodbye
As I have a plane to catch,
and I've really got to fly!
8 days on site,
I hope this time goes quick
It's not the time away,
but the work that makes me sick.
