September 26, 2024 - Romblon State University conducted the opening ceremony of Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) with the theme: "We Are a Creative Nation" at the University-Learning Resource Center.
Dr. Emelyn F. Montoya, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered an opening remark, giving her warm greeting and gratitude to all the guests and visitors.
The University President, Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, represented by the Vice President for Legal and Student Affairs and Services, Atty. Glenn Niño Sartillo, conveyed a message, expressing his support to the creative event. In addition, Atty. Sartillo recognized the Office of Media and Public Affairs (OMPA) for its accomplished projects, The MARBLE Media and Media Camp, contributing to the creative industries and innovation. He then, emphasized that every invidual has its own creativity.
Mr. Orville F. Mallorca, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Romblon, the resource person, shared valuable insights and contributions, highlighting the significance of creativity and innovation in the economic and cultural development of Romblon.
"We are the future of our creative economy", said Mr. Mallorca. His message reflected the creative designs and crafts present at the event.
Meanwhile, the opening salvo, jump start fitness and creative fashion show held at the university quadrangle, was performed by the talented and creative students of Romblon State Univeristy.
The program concluded with a photo opportunity with top officials and guest speaker and a Ribbon Cutting (phase 1) occured at the RSU-LRC, and the ceremonial ribbon cutting (phase 2) at the RSU-Quadrangle, signifying the official celebration of PCIM.
The University Dean of Instruction, Dr. Mark G. Calimbo, delivered a closing remark, expressing his gratitude to all who supported and participated in this innovative event.
Various activities, exhibits, and booth displays were present including those from Santa Maria Campus, San Agustin Campus, Sta. Fe Campus, and REDI await the students, faculty, employees, and visitors at the RSU-Main Campus.
This initiative stresses the collective efforts of the Office of Media and Public Affairs, led by Ms. Charevel Ferranco, College of Computing, Multimedia Arts and Digital Innovation, headed by Dr. Catherine Aguila, and the Office of the University Dean of Instruction, spearheaded by Dr. Mark G. Calimbo, with the help of MARBLE Media Student Organization, The Harrow, and Supreme Student Council (SSC), CASSO, CBASO, CCMADISO, CETSO, CEDSO and LSHS-The Harrow, and other student organizations in the main-campus.
In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Mr. Orville Mallorca, this significant event will continue to foster creativity to all RSUvians!
