August 12, 2025 —— Romblon State University (RSU), through the Office of the President, the International Relations Office (IRO), and the Supreme Student Council (SSC), officially opened the 2025 ASEAN Month Celebration with a vibrant kickoff program held during the weekly Flag Raising Ceremony.

This year’s theme, “Buwan ng ASEAN: Sama-Sama sa Pag-unlad,” emphasizes unity, regional cooperation, and shared cultural identity among Southeast Asian nations. The celebration aligns with RSU’s continuing efforts to strengthen global engagement and support its internationalization goals, reflecting the ASEAN vision of collaboration, inclusivity, and sustainable development.

The opening program began with a colorful parade of ASEAN national flags, followed by the presentation of traditional cultural attire representing each member country. These symbolic displays highlighted the rich diversity and enduring friendship that connect the ASEAN community.

SSC President and FSSC Servant Leader Mark Lambert Fornea delivered an inspiring message centered on the ASEAN vision, reminding the audience of the collective responsibility to advance progress and cultural understanding. Meanwhile, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Gianinna Elaine M. Labicane presented the month-long lineup of activities designed to deepen awareness of ASEAN values, culture, and regional relevance.

The scheduled events for ASEAN Month include:

• August 15 – Launching of the ASEAN Hall, SDG Talks on sustainability, and opening of the ASEAN Cultural Fair at the Learning Resource Center and Quadrangle.
  
  

• August 22 – ASEAN Roundtable Talks in the morning and academic competitions—ASEAN Quiz Bee, Poster-Making Contest, and Essay-Writing Contest—in the afternoon at the Quadrangle.
  
  

• August 29 – Closing Program and Recognition Ceremony at the RSU Landmark, featuring the awarding of winners and reflections on the role of State Universities and Colleges in strengthening ASEAN unity, cooperation, and sustainable development.
  
  

Through these activities, the 2025 ASEAN Month celebration aims to foster cultural appreciation, promote collaboration, and inspire the RSU community to engage meaningfully with ASEAN ideals.
