April 22, 2023 - In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Romblon State University (RSU) spread love and hope throughout the campus by organizing an Anti-Mining Crusade with the theme “Ang Nagmamahal, Ipinaglalaban ang Minamahal” (Those Who Love, Fight for What They Cherish). The event emphasized the importance of protecting both our community and the environment from harmful practices such as mining.
RSUvians had an exciting day filled with various booths including the Marriage Booth, Videoke Booth, Photo Booth, and Jail Booth, all creatively set up by the SSC Officers. The event brought smiles to the faces of students, making the celebration truly memorable. A heartfelt thank you to the Beta Sigma Fraternity and Sigma Beta Sorority for joining the event and helping serve the students.
In appreciation of the university's dedicated faculty, flowers were handed out as a token of gratitude for their unwavering commitment to education. The flowers symbolized that our beloved professors are forever cherished for their hard work and service.
The event was also graced by guest speaker Engr. Jerome Gacu and the Alliance of Students Against Mining (ASAM), who shared insightful knowledge on the destructive impact of mining on the environment and the Romblomanon community. Their talk served as a powerful reminder of why it is crucial to protect our land and resources for future generations.
This Valentine’s Day celebration was not just about love but also about making a stand for a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment. Together, RSU continues to spread love and advocacy for a greener future! 💚
