Work shifts are used to record an organisation's working hours so that tasks can be accurately calculated and assigned.
Users specify the start and end day to manage shifts that run across multiple days.
When a work shift is updated, a table (WORKSHIFT) is populated with the shifts for the next ten years. This table makes scheduling easier and can be updated by clicking the Rebuild Work Shifts button. However, if a work shift contains blank day or time, the table is not updated.
These modules rely on work shifts:
Timekeeping / Tracker
Production Planning
Staff can be allocated a shift too. However, that is for record-keeping purposes only as it is not otherwise used. Time and Attendance summarise the hours actually worked.
