The Estimating module is used for cost-based estimating of printing and other products.
The Cost on an Estimate consists of Materials, Services, and Outwork which is marked up to generate a Selling Price.
When pre-press items have a Qty = 0, Total = 0 and are linked to a Part, they are not copied to the Work Order.
Only Substrates that derive their prices from Supplier Prices which are linked to a default Sheet or Reel Category may be used in Print Estimating.
When adding a Material Cost Price to the Materials in an Estimate, the net Cost Price is added. The /1000 field only applies to the Selling Price.
A warning is displayed when the default and Estimate Markups differ. The default Market is obtained from the linked Customer, Branch, or General Setting (in this order).
The Overrides exclude Ink items where the Setup Cost has been removed.
Linked Materials on Press Run Options (e.g. Click Charges): The Material lookup displays items that with Cost Prices and Items that use the Lowest Supplier Price. We highly recommend that you select the Cost Price.
The Part name is restored to the Quote Description when a single Part is used. When an Estimate is copied to a Work Order, the Pre-press is sorted by Cost Centre and then by the explicit order.
Use Ink Groups: Work and Turn is allowed if all the colours on the Back are also on the Front (e.g. When printing CMYK front and Black (K) on the back, work and turn is allowed).
When the Item is a Service, it contains the name of the Service.
When the Item is a Material, it contains the name of the Linked Service.
This allows you to group on Service to see the total cost of the Service, including Material Costs.
The specification of the job can be added to the Printing tab.
Up to five quantities/prices are editable in the Supplier grid view. Click the Edit button to add prices when you have more than five quantities on the Estimate.
The lookup lists used on the Outsourced Printing tab can be edited using the following General Setting (Main Menu > Setup > Settings & Defaults > Settings (tab)):
Quotations > Standard Outsourced Printing - Lookup lists: Click Edit in the Value column to create or edit the list.
A board which is customised to your working size (e.g. Corrugated Board), must be loaded as a sheet with blank depth and width fields.
The Supplier price must be loaded in sqm, kg or ton so it can adjust to the size of the board.
If the default Unit on the Material is ea, the quantity is converted to each on the Work Order.
When a sheet with blank Depth and Width is added to an estimate, it will assume the Work Size.
Right click a Substrate and select Add to Materials to create a Material Item with the Custom size used in the Estimate. If the linked Material sizes are not blank, it will be assumed that a custom material item has already been created, and an error message is displayed.
Commission can be added to a Standard Estimate using settings that are linked to a quantity on the Estimate.
The Commission can also be preset in the Customer > Accounting (tab) next to Est. Com.
Commission settings:
% of Value Added
% of Profit
% of Sell Price
% of Cost Price

Multiple Delivery options can be added to an Estimate.
You can add a Delivery cost to the Quotation if you are delivering multiple jobs together.
Multiple packaging options can be added to one Estimate. For instance, you may want to shrink wrap half the job for local delivery and box the other half for courier delivery to a different destination.
Packaging works with the Delivery feature.
If you are delivering multiple jobs together, you could opt to disable Packaging and Delivery on the Estimate, in favour of adding the Delivery Cost as a seperate item to your quotation.
The Parcel quantity is calculated by kg/Parcel or by Qty/Parcel.
