Introduction
Introduction
A design strength of mine is combining my attention to detail with creative thinking to create unique designs. An area for growth for me is coding. I have done a little bit of coding at my old school however I still find it really challenging.
Three things I want to commit to in my documentation process are...
Taking clear photos of all my work
Giving detailed descriptions of my work
Staying on top of all my posts so I don't fall behind
PCB Designs
We chose to make a donut with LED sprinkles, because it was a cute design that would incorperate some unique geometric features and a specific use for out LED lights. Our design will inlcue icing and 12 sprinkles/LED lights.
Circuit Board
I worked with Vivian to create a donut circuit board. I will remember how to flip different items (resistor and battery) to the other side of the circuit board to make it more visually appealing.
Speaker Ideation
My favorite ideas are the owl, cherries and hard boiled egg.
Ideation Feedback
A lot of people including myself really liked the owl idea so I think I am going to go with that. Some tips people had for drawing the owl in rhino is trace an image of it in top veiw and then extrude it to make it 3d. A lot of people think I should make it out of wood or layered acrylic so I think in my end product I will try to do a combination of both.
Final Speaker Ideation
I think the owl is a really great choice because its a unique design. The owl will defintly challenge my skill set because I will have to use Rhino a lot (which I am not very good at).
Almost finished model
Right now my owl is almost done in rhino. I need to add a few more details and then break apart the pieces so they are ready to b cut or printed into the different materials.
Card Board Prototype
My idea is to have an owl shaped speaker with the speaker in the eyes of the owl. I learned how to laser cut on card board. I think my design doesn't need any changes I worked out all the problems on rhino for the design.
Finished Circuit Board
My completed circuit board is a donut with 12 lights representing the sprinkles. I learned how to use fusion to create this circuit board.
Finished Bread Board
I now understand the importance of different size capacitors and how if you need a big one you need to use a big one instead of a small one.
Something that is still a mystery to me is the ferrite bead. A ferrite bead is a passive device that filters high frequency noise energy over a broad frequency range. It becomes resistive over its intended frequency range and dissipates the noise energy in the form of heat.
