For my speaker, I decided to incorporate my Chinese name that translates to "english" which is my last name. I also de-soldered the switch and made the charging port much more accesible. I am most satisfied with how my speaker turned out. There are no issues that I am aware of and so far everything turned out very well. If I were to start over, I would most likely try to add some form of handle or a feature that makes the speaker more portable. Currently it is very large and can not be moved around without grabbing it from the bottom which is rather uncomfortable.A lesson from this class that I will take with me is planning for the future. Creating a plan for myself and sticking to a schedule that allows me to stay on task and know what steps I need to take next to move forward in the process of building my speaker.
For my digital project I was thinking of using circuit playground to illuminate my acrylic. It would give my chinese name a backlit affect which would enhance the overall asthetic
I am creating a speaker with my Chinese name on it. The letter 英, translates to English which is my last name which is why I decided to put it on my speaker.
This is my finished Soldered and wired amplifier circuit. With this, I have all the necessary components needed to play music using Bluetooth. I transferred all these components off a breadboard so we could confirm all the units worked.
This is the lightning bolt PCB my partner and I created
This is my progress so far with the microcontroller. Ava and I were able to make the emoji on the screen move from the top down and disapper using the code shown in the image.
I was able to figure out how to make my microcontroller flash different lights and random times with my partner Rajiv.
This is our Board design and the schematic of the amp pcb.
We could not figure out how to have all the names be written out each time we added a new name to the code without changing multiple settings. Mr. Kleindolph eventually helped write the code for us.
So far, I have completed my breadboard with the Bluetooth. I think the purpose of breadboarding is to make sure that all the necessary components work. If your breadboard doesn't work there is a high chance your final speaker would not work. Something technical I learned while breadboarding is I better understood the different symbols and what they meant.
So far my prototype looks fairly basic. The main part of my speaker is the acrylic which will sit in front but we do not have the material yet so I could not design it. One thing I learned from my prototype is that I like the size a lot. It is compact but still large enough to hold the speakers and all my necessary components. One thing I might change is I might try to take out a section of the wood in front to have a LED light to illuminate my Chinese character that will sit in front of my speaker.
This is the design for my speaker. I plan to have both the speakers in the front along with a character from my Chinese name. I want to have LED lights on either side along with the on off switch and volume control on top
This is my first prototype for my speaker. It has the first character of my Chinese name and a sound dial on the top.

These are the 10 drawings that I did in class and at home. The first design I circled is the 2 separate speakers. I circled this sketch because I need a speaker in my room and this would fit best. My other 2 designs are a cactus shape with 2 speakers and 2 speakers in a box with my part of my Chinese name. The character would be in acrylic.
Our group decided to go with a thunderbolt design.
I think that one of my strengths is my creativity in projects we work on in class. This helps me generate multiple ideas for projects and troubleshoot/adapt when I run into a sudden problem.
An area of growth would be double checking all work before turning it in. I need to make sure that what I submit has as few flaws as possible and this can only be accomplished by revisiting your work to make sure it is as good as it can be.
Commitments:
Double and triple checking all work before turning it in.
Always adding dates to all my posts.
Uploading clear images of my work from multiple different angles.
