A design strength for me is how thorough I am during the design process. I really love sketching and ideating so I tend to spend a lot of time on that portion. An area of growth is choosing more doable projects, as a lot of times I choose to complex projects that are difficult to complete.
The first thing I want to commit to in document my design process is consistently updating my page and not doing it all in one day. The second thing I want to commit to is keeping the page organized so its not just a jumble of pictures. The Third thing writing thorough descriptions so my work is clear.
Ella and my's first ideation for the pcb project was to make a pcb of shaqs face. The LED's are going to be in his eyes and his nostrils. The second was the shoe were the LED were going to be on the laces. We ended up going with the Shaqs face dsign because it sounded a lot cooler.
In this project I learned how to place and route wires on the understand of the board, which to me makes the board look a lot cooler.
I made the overall design pretty simple so I could embellish it with a lot of knobs and other pieces of technology.
While designing the prototype I learned a few things. First that you must be patient when building and when testing and second that when something doesn't work you must not get discouraged and you need to go through everything that could be wrong.
Next time if I were to improve the prototype I think I would work on color coding or sectioning out my work better so it doesn't look as confusing.
Above is my schematic and board design for the amplifier circuit. It was really fun to make and I challenged myself on the board to make it a little smaller and more of a puzzle. I worked with Angelina on this design.
This is the work my partner and I did on the LED MCU, we programmed a LED Face into it.
Although it did not work I had a lot of fun working on the LED matrix and I hope to get better at it for my project.
My partner and I put an image on our Feather wing.
Digital Project idea:
Screen + Microphone that reacts to sound and displays some sort of graphic. Maybe that is a wave or some bars that go up and down.
The laser cutter has been tricky because it hasn't been cutting my stuff all the way through so I have had to recut a lot of things which has made it difficult for me complete the building progress.
I attempted to make a speaker inspired by an oscilloscope.
I am most satisfied with the digital project with the bars that go up and down.
If I were to start over I would try to plan my time better and laser cut earlier because it turned into my biggest problem.
I would try to take away my perseverance from my class because it took a lot to get to where I was.
