Hello Post!
8/22/23
A design/ engineering strength: One of my strengths is having a very thorough ideation process. I love coming up with unique ideas but I hate having to pick one because I can be very indecisive.
A design/ engineering area for growth: One area for growth would be asking for help whenever I am having a hard time with an assignment.
Commitments:
Be thorough with my explanations for my pictures, last year I wasn't very detailed and that's something I want to change
Take good photos, last year I did an okay job at documenting my process through pictures and I want to get better at that
Ask my teacher for help whenever I am struggling and a classmate can't help me
08/30/23 PBC Ideas Drawing
The design my partner and I chose was the spider. We decided that the LEDs would be placed on the spider's legs and the two eyes. We chose this design because it was different and a little edgy. We also liked how much space the spider's body gave us and how we only needed one color for it to look good.
09/06/23 Collaborative PCB
For this project I worked with Carolina to make this spider shaped PCB. We decided to do a spider because we loved how unique it was compared to the other designs we had created. We then started by doing the design in Rhino and we thought it would be fairly easy (it wasn't :( ). We finished the design and it was beautiful, we then went to Eagle and made the SCH and decided to do 10 LEDs (8 legs and eyes). Later we imported it onto Eagle and we thought it worked but it didn't, we tried what felt like ten times and we asked for help. Mr. Kleindolph helped us import the design onto Eagle, we moved the LEDs around and routed it and done :)
Next time I will remember not to use too many points when making my design in Rhino because it takes forever for it to load on Eagle.
09/08/23 Speaker Design
Out of the three speaker ideas I circled, I think I'm most likely to move forward with the mosaic sunset. I was thinking of the back of the speaker having a different design (still a mosaic) but just not a sunset. I also really like the grape idea because its a little on the fun side of my sketches. With the grape design I'm concerned about the size and the material of the grapes.

Modeled Enclosure Design 09/29/23
What materials are you thinking of using?
I was planning on using orange, yellow, and blue acrylic
This is not seen in this prototype but I wanted to add some small fish to my design like they're coming out of the waves
What are you uncertain about in terms of how the project will fit and hold together?
I'm a little uncertain about what type of joint I want to use and the sizing of my box.
Cardboard Prototype 10/12/23
When making my cardboard prototype I realized my prototype was pretty big and that I wouldn't have enough wood so I made it thinner and shorter
My design with the acrylic also changed because I didn't like how it looked on the Rhino
I too added fish and lowered the number of waves I used and the shape of the way
Picture of Amp Circuit on Breadboard 10/24/23
This is a picture of my circuit board which allows my speakers to play music (with or without Bluetooth).
I built it by using a TON of wires, resistors, etc. I learned that whenever my speaker didn't work it was mainly a wire coming undone and to double check with the schematic.
Python Practice Worksheets 11/01/23
PCB Amplifier Design 11/01/2023
For this project I worked with Margo! In order to meet the "minimum 10 contributions" Margo and I decided it was best to split the work in half. It wasn't like you do this and we don't talk situation, but more like we were helping and guiding one another when we were stuck. After finishing the SCH we made sure there were no errors by fixing them and making sure everything looked good. After this Margo replaced the "A&D" with "MW & AK" (out initials!) and finished the BRD!
Being that is my 2nd circuit board I learned to constantly change between the BRD and the SCH just to make sure everything is correct, to triple check for errors and to ask for help whenever I'm stuck or don't feel too good about it
Microcontroller Testing- 11/06/23
Since we didn't have time for an actual 'challenge' we simply modified the scrolling text code to say Capybara instead of Cows. We did struggle getting the "Enjoy life" with the emoji one and we couldn't fix it because class was ending.
Microcontroller Challenge- 11/09/23
One of the challenges Lizzi and I worked on was displaying our own image. At first we struggled to get it on there because the image was in the wrong place. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the capybara we were able to put up on the Microcontroller but I do have a picture of the eye one.
Another challenge we had was trying to connect to the wifi. For some reason the password didn't work so we had to do it a couple of times but at the end it worked out. We were a little confused on what to do but once we asked for helped we figured it out and we connected to the school wifi
Digital Project: (Visual & Description)- 11/13/23
For my digital project I want to make it into a real time clock because I think it will be useful for whenever I am getting ready and blasting music with my speaker to have the time on the right side. I'm not sure if I want to have just the time 0r the date too.
I'm still trying to decide whether I am going to use the Feather M4 Express or the Feather ESP32-S2
Unsoldered Circuit Board- 11/27/23
This is my pre-solder circuit board which will allow for my speakers to work!
My 1st Shaped PCB Project (Soldered & Completed)
I designed this wonderful, amazing, breathtaking spider alongside Carolina. The viewer is looking at a functional PCB, the two red LED are meant to represent the scary eyes most spiders tend to have. The other 8 led represent the 8 legs spiders have!🕷🕸
Final Soldered Amp Circuit 12/12/23
I got wayyyy better at soldering; some people call me a soldering beast. I used to be 'good' at soldering but now I am too good.
I also learned to be patient. At times my speakers wouldn't work but it was just a matter of changing the bluetooth thing and not my actual speakers
Enclosure Build Process 12/14/23
I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH MY SPEAKER!!
I still have to work on my digital porject buy I am done with my actually speaker!
Amplifier Documentation- Final Project
What did you make?
For my speaker, I made a beautiful sunset at the beach!! The sun is my speaker and at the bottom I added waves.
Thinking about the work you created, I am very very very very satisfied with my A&D site! I think its beautiful and organized! Another thing I am very satisfied with is my waves! My waves were one of the few things that actually worked on the first try!
If you were to start over, knowing what you know, I would do a lot fo things differently but I would make my actual box press-fit correctly because it didn't. Another thing I would do is correct my orange acrylic correctly because I don't really like that its see through and you can see the hot glue :( but all is well.
A lesson from this class that I will take with me and use in future projects is to go with the flow and to enjoy the process. Things won't alwasy gos the way you want them to but at the end of the day everything will turn out fine!
