Hello Post
I think one of my strengths in design is troubleshooting and working through problems through prototypes and repitition. On the other hand one area of growth I am focusing on as a designer and engineer is my creativitie as sometimes I find that at the start of the design process I often go all in on a design instead of fully considering all my options.
The three things I want to commit to within my documention is
Making sure to take enough photos to fully present my work process and tell the the complete story
Taking clear photos and editing them to provide a clear view of my project.
Talk about the challenges of my project and how I overcame them.
Group Design Decision:
As a group we decided to create pineapple for our led circuit design. None of us had any really strong opinions and we thought that the pineapple design would implement a good mix of a fun cut out while also allowing us to play around with different colored LED's for the yellow and green parts of the pineapple.
1/30/24: Documentation of Schematic and Board Layout
For this project I worked with Leena and Cerys to create a pineapple circuit design. For this design we utilized rhino to create the shape of a pineapple and then used led's to create the color of the leafs and the body of the pineapple. We also created cross hatching on the body of the pineapple using silk screen to create some texture. I will remember many things for this design process one being the creation of the schematic for the first time and looking how to organize the leds in order to route the schematic.
1/4/25: Sketching
Here are my ten sketches for my speaker possibility. My three favorite options are circled. I think it would be cool to add some element of nature into my design, my triangle design would be clear and implement dried moss on the inside. My second favorite is the three boxs stacked on each other which would create an insteresting stacking of speakers and create a cool illusion. I would like to work with shapes and balance.
Post Phase 2 Design Drawing:
I believe this is an excellent design because the technological detailing will be challenging and the frame will be usable and asctetic in order to make the project more accessible and simple. I am challenging my skill set by attempting to code more screeens and doing a simple design will force me to make sure my finishing is polished and that every works together seamlessy to create my vision.
Documentation of Rhino Design: Modeled Enclosure Design
For my design I used the measurements of the type B speaker to create my triangular frame. I then modeled the see through acrylic by placing the speakers within and creating all the drilling holes. I then made a sketch of what the volume switch would look like and put it all together.
Post-it: These are my Post-it note recommendations from class. Most of them liked my design but wondered about how my interior natural parts of my design would stay nice inside. I appreciated these post-its, and they were very useful.
Prototype
For my prototype I worked with card board to recreate the triangular shape of my design and show of the volume dials and the layers.
Circuit Board:
This is an image of my circuit board that I breadboarded with the working speakers. Doing this helped me understand how the final circuit will look when putting everything together to get the speakers to work well in the final project.
Final PCB creation:Next me and my partner Gavin worked to create a working PCB design and schematic for a board which will be used for the final product. For this, we implemented all the parts to make it work, including resistor ports and speaker connections, and then added our own design being a baguette to the center to personalize it.
Circuit board: although i dont have a image right now of the unsoldered circuit board for now here is a image of the soldered circuit board all together. It shwos our final baguette image like the one above and will all the white spaces filled in with working parts
final pcb circuit board of me and my group. I soldered toether the green leds so that the green of the pineaple would light up and pop. We also made cut outs like pineapple skin.
Update on progress:
This is a screenshot of my piece that I am going to laser cut for my project. It will be the acrylic clear piece on the front and I am super excited about it. I still need to cut out my wood before putting it all together.
Final Amplifier:
For my final design of my amplifier, I changed a lot. I decided on doing a press-fit design, i was super happy to put it all together. I was able to apply and put together all my speakers as well as fit in a slot for my digital project and have weather within my speaker. The top comes off and allows me to fix the interior and adjust power and charging. In two to three years I will remember souldering and I love how I can complete a circuit that actually codes a speaker now.
Digital Project:
For my digital project, I wanted to be able to keep it in my room, so I thought being able to see the live weather would be super helpful. So at the top of my speaker, I imported it. It is held together within a slot in the speaker and is able to take on and off in order to change the code.
