Strength:

An engineering strength of mine is that I pay close attention to details and enjoy being creative with my designs. This allows me to have clean, well-made projects.

Area for growth:

An area of growth in regard to design and engineering is that I can get confused when it comes to the circuitry and the placing of each piece. It tends to take me more time to decipher the layout.

Three Things to Remember:

1) Take well-lit clear photos of every step of the process whether or not you think you will use them.

2) Make sure to keep your work clear and organized, so you don't get confused. (Such as drawings or sketches.)

3) Be specific about what you learned each step of the way and what mistakes you may have made.

PCB Ideation

Schematic & Board

In doing the schematic I learned how to set up parallel circuits and the way that you attach resistors to make sure that the lights don't burn out too quickly.

With the board design, I learned to make sure that the shape wasn't in two pieces, and got to see how the air wires redraw themselves to make the quickest path from battery to resistor to LED.

Design Drawings: Phase 2

I chose this design (the hand of Fatima) because I liked it the most and I thought that it would be a challenge for me, while still being realistic.

I laser cut the two hands from Rhino and they came out really well! I noticed that the circle in one of the hands isn't perfectly in the center, so I'll go back and fix it in Rhino before I print/ cut anything else.

Microcontroller Activity

I worked with Tabitha to create this screen to display an image of vitamin water and to cycle between two sets of text: "yellow" and "vitamin water".

This is my circuit board. It's an unsoldered version of the one going in my speaker that I made with Mira.

Enclosure Build Process

These are my finished hamsa hands. Next I plan on wood burning a design onto the hands and then drilling my speakers into the holes on the hands. I've also laser cut and glued my clear acrylic (not pictured) and my speakers/ wires will stay in there.

Thinking about the work you created, what are you most satisfied with this semester?
1. I am most satisfied with my amplifier circuit, as it was the most challenging part of this process for me.
If you were to start over, knowing what you know, what would you do differently?
1. If I were to start over, I'd try better to memorize the schematic symbols because I think it would make the building process a lot faster and smoother.
What is a lesson from this class that you will take with you and use in future projects?
1. A lesson I learned from this class is to find a healthy balance between asking for help and trying to figure things out on my own.
