An overall theme from my peers' feedback is that they think that my lantern and jukebox are the best ideas, but both should be simplified in some way since they are hard to execute. is most practical as the speakers will fit nicely on either side. They also posed helpful things that I should think about when choosing and figuring out a design.
I think that this is a good idea to design and build because the speakers fit on the top perfectly, and I think that the design is simple but also creative because I can add details onto the lantern along the way. This design will challenge the current skillset by incorporating the different circuit components because I do not have too much experience with doing it. My end goal is for this to look like a traditional paper lantern.
Currently in Rhino, I am trying to replicate the texture of the paper lantern. I am trying to accurately space and add curves in between the sphere to create that paper like texture. I will also have to do this vertically after I am done doing it horizontally.
Currently in Rhino, I am almost done with my paper lantern. I have learned that creating this lantern in rhino is a bit more complicated then I thought it would be. I have modified the lantern a little bit because of the way that I am creating the texture, but it is basically done minus the fact that I have to hollow out the lantern. I will probably modify the textures as well.
For my prototype, I made a lantern out of strips of cardboard . I have learned that the process is very tedious and cardboard is very hard to use for creating spheres because it can easily bend in the wrong places and create dents even when you are not trying to. Thankfully, my prototype is very different from the acual model, and it is only being made so I can see if the speaker fits, which it does. There is a lot of modifications that I put into my 3D model, so hoepfully it will be a lot better 3D printed.
