Hello!
Design Strength:
I'm really good at collaborating with my peers to make creative, cool designs.
Design Growth:
I think I can grow in my ability to create well thought out designs that don't require re-designs later.
Three things I want to commit to:
Posting every class assignment to the class site
Including clear headers, dates, and titles on all posts
Posting process photos and pictures of in-progress projects, not just the final products
First Circuit Design 8/28/23
PCB Design Sketches 9/1/23
Collaborative PCB Design 9/7/23
My group made a PCB shaped like a snail. Our LEDS are placed around the edges of the snail's shell. Our battery is on the back of the board, along with out wires. Our switch is on the top.
I worked on this project with Charlie and Kiana.
I will remember that Eagle responds much better to straight lines rather than curved ones. I will also remember that group mates are a resource and most of the time they can help you figure out a solution.
Speaker Ideation 9/8/23
Feedback 9/12/23
Summary:
Many people gave me feedback about the final size of my speaker, like maybe it would be a little too big. I'm going to take that into account when choosing my speaker size. I also recieved feedback that the colors of the stoplight might not come through in the design. That's why I added some green and red acrylic to my design that would go around the actual speakers. It would provide the visual aspect of a stoplight.
Speaker Design 9/15/23
My speaker design is a stoplight. I will use wood for the box and acrylic for the colored rings around the speakers. I'm going to put the power button on the top, as well as the volume adjuster. I'm going to use Speaker Choice B.
Progress/Feedback 9/27/23
So far I've completed my rhino model. I'm planning to glue my pieces together and use acrylic for the colored stop light parts. I still need to add a hole in the back for a charging port.
One thing I could improve is adding more details so that it isn't just a box.
I think everything will work pretty well, I just hope there is enough space for the speakers and wiring.
Speaker Enclosure Prototype 9/28/23
I'm using wood and acrylic to make the enclosure for my speaker. I'm going to laser cut the wood pieces and then glue them together. I'm going to laser cut my acrylic as well and screw it on along with the speakers. I'm going to paint my wood black to imitate a stoplight's color. All sides will be closed, but I might screw on the back panel so I can unscrew it to repair my speaker if it breaks. The volume knob and on/off switch will be on the top. The charging cord will stick out of the back. I added tabs sticking out the sides of my front wood piece looks so that it will imitate a stoplight more accurately. I learned how to use the laser cutter and which design elements will look better with wood vs acrylic. I still need to think through whether I'll screw on my back panel for easy access if I need to repair something.

Python Worksheets 1 & 2 11/1/23
Microcontroller Challenge 11/12/23
I tried to make my light get dimmer or brighter based on noise level. I succeeded! I was able to print sound level to serial, and I got my light to turn on. I was a little stuck at that point but eventually was able to make my light change color when a loud noise came along.
Digital Project 11/14/23
My digital project is using the circuit playground to make a circle of lights dimmer or brighter depending on noise level.

Speaker Work In Progress 12/15/23
Here is my speaker is in my container!! Drilling the screws was a little bit difficult, but they fit, and now it works! I now have to figure out how to attach the acrylic , but that shouldn't be too much of a problem given my rhino model is to scale.
Speaker Final 12/20/23
My speaker is a trafic light. I am really happy with how it turned out! I worked really hard on it and I think the design was well translated. If I could do this project again I would focus a lot more on the design process and rhino modeling. There were a lot of components I didn't really thinnk through as I was designing it and I ended up having to work those out as they came up. My press-fit didn't really work that well, and that is something I could've paid more attention to during the designing stage. One lesson I learned from this class is to measure twice, cut once.
Digital Project Documentation 12/20/23
For my digital project I created an led ring that is sound sensitive. This means that it will change from green to blue when there is a loud noise!
