Sophie Collomb
A design/engineering strength I have is being creative with my ideas and making things that fit my aesthetic.
A design/engineering area of growth for me is building my persistence when things get hard and asking for help instead of giving up.
3 things I want to commit to:
Consistently document all my work and write good descriptions
Add good and clear pictures of all my work
Stay organized with my documentation.
Design Ideas: Sophie and Maxxy
Above are Maxxy and I's design ideas. We ended up choosing to do the jellyfish because we thought it was unique and creative and we both really like the concept.
Shaped PCB design reflection:
We made a design of the top of a moon jellyfish. Me and maxxy worked on this design. Something I will remember from this project is that placement of things within the schematic doesn't matter as long as are all connected, and also that the LEDs each need a resistor.
Amplifier designs:
My favorite designs are the minimalistic rounded cube ones. Probably either the 1st and 3rd one on the first row, and the middle one on the bottom row. I am a very simple person so I don't want something too extra and that I can actually use in my room.
Something I would want to remember from the feedback is that I should do symmetrical vertical speakers with rounded edges.
Phase 2 Drawing:
I believe that this is an excellent design to design and built because It fits in perfectly with the aesthetic of my room and I see myself genuinely using it instead of just making something for the class because it's a practical shape that is also aesthetically pleasing. I am challenging my current skill set because I plan to make this out of 3D printing which I have never done in my life, so I think I will definitely learn a lot of new things.
Speaker design process
At this point, the overall design of my speaker is completed. I like it alot and it fits my vision.
Cardboard Model
My idea is just a simple rounded minimalistic speaker. I don't think it needs any changes.
Shaped PCB Board
Circuit board
Is there something about the circuit you understand now that you've spent time prototyping it?
I now understand what needs to be connected in order for the circuit to work.
Name one part that is a complete mystery to you. Look it up on Google or Generative AI. What does it say the function of that part is?
I didn't know what the purpose of a resistor was. After looking it up I learned that A resistor's primary function is to limit the flow of electrical current in a circuit, protecting components and controlling how much current passes through them. It also reduces voltage by creating a "voltage drop" across itself, which is used to create specific voltage levels for other components, act as a potential divider, or measure current.Â
Amp PCB design and schematic
I worked with jaslene during this process and something that I learned was that it doesn't matter where you connect the wires in the schematic.
