10 Speaker Designs 9/8

My two favorite designs are the traffic lights and the letter B.

Feedback Summary 9/10

Some things I want to remember about these 2 pieces of feedback is putting into consideration the third light, which I haven't really put into thought yet. I do remember though seeing an example similar to a traffic light. From the other post it note, I thought it would be a good idea to add LEDs from our next project, although that might be a little challenging.

Phase 2 drawing + choose your speakers 9/18

I believe this is an excellent design to make and build because I like the creativitybut also simplicity of having an object like this and I think it would look really cool. My one challenge is what to do with the three lights because assuming the first two would be the speakers, I'm kind of lost on how I could also make it look like a traffic light. I'm thinking of maybe spray painting red and yellow around it. For the bottom one, I don't know whether I want to have either green acrylic, LEDs, or spray painting it, which is a decision that I still need to make.

AFTER 9/23 CLASS TIME

I realized that my original sketch was not very detailed and clear, and I was very unsure of what I wanted to do with my design, so I redid it during class and came up with this. I'm happy I decided on the type of wood that I want to make with this and also came up with some dimensions. I think the idea of the red and yellow fabric over the speakers is very creative and better than having acrylic as it would affect the sound less, but I also think that the idea of the white acrylic and green LED is also super cool. I think I could play around a lot with the LED and maybe have different types of green flashing. For my digital project, I am for sure doing this LED but I am still unsure whether I want a microphone that is involved with the sound and LED. Overall, I'm very pleased with my updated sketch and I feel way more confident about my design.

UPDATE: I changed it from 5 in to 6 in to give me some more room and space inside the box.

9/29 UPDATE: CHANGED TO 5.5

In progress digital design 9/25

I worked on my rhino design in class today, and I decided to make some changes to my design by changing it to 6x11.5 inches. I made this change because Mr. Kleindolph thought it would give me a little more space just incase I struggle to fit things inside of my design, and it seems like a good idea. I think I am starting to make better progress than the last couple of classes and that I am in a good spot so far.

9/29 UPDATE: CHANGED TO 5.5

SIDES WILL BE 4 INCHES WIDE.

10/2: back of speaker opening will be 3.5x7.5 inches.

10/19 Cardboard Prototype

This is my cardboard protoype of my traffic light design, and I think that this turned out pretty well besides the back where one side is a little more uneven than the other since I bent the cardboard too much, but it will be more even on my design. My idea was to make sure I had enough space in the back to fit my hands in there incase something stops working or doesn't go to plan. One thing I learned from my design was that the gaps in between each light are sort of thin, but I don't know if that's too big of a problem and if that requires any modifications towards my design. In the picture, I also don't have cardboard at the base of the prototype, which I will most likely need for my real design.
