Firstly, do take a look at our Pupil Premium Pages and letters to get a feel for how we support families struggling financially: https://www.littlegreen.herts.sch.uk/parent-carer-info/free-school-mealspupil-premium
We will be welcoming Ms Linda Hardman, from Herts For Learning to complete the Hertfordshire County Council's Commissioned School Visit looking at the Elimination of Economic Exclusion within Hertfordshire. A range of evidence will be explored including parental feedback. We would be very grateful if you could give your honest parental perspectives in the survey below. We welcome Ms Hardman back in February to consider any impact of her visit. Thank you in advance!
As the Autumn Term gets fully underway, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new Year 3 children and their families to Little Green. We hope they all enjoyed the welcome biscuits we sent home last week, compliments of FOLG.

Summer Fair Committee
Believe it or not - it is time to begin thinking about the Summer 2024 school fair. It is always a successful event and raises great funds for the school whilst providing a very enjoyable community event, but for this to happen we need you. If you fancy getting together with some friendly faces to pool ideas and begin to plan and shape the school fair we would love to hear from you. Or do you have a company or service you could offer for our Grand raffle - we can offer advertising in return.
We currently have a leaking metal shed as a store room and we need your help please. Do you know anyone who can take away the shed for scrap metal or to recycle? Are you able to put us in touch with someone who can provide a new outdoor building we can use for storage.
Our popular Elfridges event returns again this Christmas but do you have time to complete some wrapping for us - we have stock and paper ready to go if you fancy an Autumn wrapping challenge before the frantic Christmas season begins.
Please get in contact if you can help with any ot the above folg@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk

Monday 30th October at 7:30pm at Little Green School.
On Monday some brave leaders in Year 6 took up the challenge to be Habit Tracking Volunteer Researchers. Thank you to Issy, Cara and Niam. They identified a habit they want to work on; what they could do to help this new habit, and shared this with the school. We will be supporting them each week, hearing how their habit is developing and what we can do to support this. On Monday we will select a volunteer from each year group as well as a Teaching Assistant and a Teacher. We will also use some of the research in this area to link their habit to some contextual cues - look at last week's 4 minute video to find out what that means!
Maisie is signed with a Talent Agent and had a great opportunity at the beginning of the summer holidays to record with the BBC for a new Audio Drama called 'Come Closer Now'. It is now in a position to be released and is going to be played on BBC Radio 3 this Sunday 24th September at 19:30. The link is shared with you in as we would love to acknowledge/recognise this as a huge achievement!
Maisie has done a number of audition tapes since she was signed with this agency so it's lovely for something to have paid off and what a great one to start with being that it was for the BBC! Hopefully this will lead to other things for her in the future, as she is so passionate about performing.

Author Visit HANNAH GOLD!
On FRIDAY 13th October (recently rearranged by author's publicist), author HANNAH GOLD will be visiting the school to meet the children and sign some books. ‘The Last Bear’ is a popular book with the children (and adults) in school and we jumped at the opportunity to bring Hannah in to talk about her experiences as a writer, and her new book - ‘Finding Bear’.
To pre-order copies of the books, ready to be signed and dedicated at school on the day, please click the link below and place your order through Chiltern Bookshops by 5pm, 12th OCTOBER.
BUY THE BOOKS HERE: https://schools.chilternbookshops.co.uk/events/hannah-gold/
Please note that only books purchased through this link will be signed and dedicated on the day. Delivery to the school will be free. We will also be buying copies for the school library. Many thanks as always for your support,
Mr Hyde and Miss Marriot
In assembly on Monday we discussed what good habits are, about looking after our belongings.
We have a new system for the lost property shelving.
As you will see, the shelves with NO NAME are full and these items are very hard to return. Please do make sure your children's possessions are named. These unnamed items will be donated to FOLG and/or local charities.
Note the very expensive Airup water bottle and flasks with no name.
Whilst the recommended age for WhatsApp is above primary age, we also recognise that many of our children are using the social media application outside of school. With that in mind, here are some useful tips for parents in understanding what the app can do and in how, as a responsible parent, you can keep your child safe.

Stationery sets
Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
