The Attitude of Achievement
It has been an inspirational week and an inspirational term. The positive attitudes towards learning from children, staff and the wider community have been palpable. It is said that there are two types of people: Those that blame the rest of the world for their problems and those that own their problems and embrace the world. The Little Green Community is the latter: a community of positive attitude to learning and to life...and to rain! Well done everyone on a brilliant week and term: The Newsweb is overflowing with just this week's learning! Have a well-earned and lovely Easter break and we look forward to seeing you back on TUESDAY 18th April!
Fun Run Welly Walk Achievement!
As you will all know, it is so important to give children fresh air, even on wet and miserable days, to help prevent the transfer of bacterial and viral infections which increase during the cold and wet months: This is because, on cold and wet days, people spend more time inside sharing infections. I am so proud of and delighted with the community spirit of Little Green for making the Welly Walk today such a success - come rain, wind and mud - we were able to stand up as a community and ensure our children are given healthy community learning experiences. Well done everyone! There is still a little time to add your sponsorship for FOLG.

Origami Easter Break Competition
The amazingly confident and talented Eric, Kieran, Shayaan and Jayden launched their Easter Holiday Origami Competition to the whole school on Monday. The slides are attached with details and we look forward to seeing what you create when we return after the break!
Science and Art Week Culmination
The children had the pleasure of sharing and observing the incredible art and science learning that has been happening over our Science and Art Fortnight. Ms Reile and Ms Brauka have promoted a wonderful learning experience across the school and staff and children have all benefitted from sharing knowledge and developing their learning. Well done to everybody - great attitudes and great achievements!
Croxley Danes Lead Assembly
Croxley Danes students, supported by Ms Cox, engagingly launched our Reducing Food Waste project lead by Year 5. It was great to see some alumni continuing to shine brightly and educating all of us on the embarrassment of wasting food.
Year 6 Dragon's Den Market
- an enormous success! One impressed parent wrote to us:
"It was a fascinating experience as a parent. It was so lovely to see the pride, passion and excitement the children had for their products. The inspiring ideas and negotiation skills :) that they displayed were amazing. (I certainly learnt some valuable things from them!)"
Gold Reading Badge Winner!
Our first Gold reading Badge Winner! It was a pleasure to present the first 2022-23 GOLD reading badge to the inspirational Rishi. Wel done on the quantity and the qualty of your reading - it makes a difference!
Gymnastics Inspiration
Isla at it again winning GOLD at the district finals and gaining entry to the National Finals later ths year. Her words of advice to anyone striving for achievement: 'You just have to keep doing it, even when you don't feel like it!'
Trombone Sensation
Dorothy recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall on the 14 March with her brass band - Amersham Band.
The event was organised by Buckinghamshire Music Trust and saw 1000 young musicians come together to celebrate the breadth and depth of young musical talent and achievement in the county.
Dorothy said, “playing my trombone at the Royal Albert Hall was an amazing experience and it was even better to do this with my friends.”
Flag arrival!
We finally had the pleasure of unveiling our child designed and chosen Little Green flags. Charlotte and Maisie conceived the competition and ran the whole experience. Well done everyone for an amazing effort and impact! Do watch out for our flags waving at future events.
Flag Winners reveal!
Engaging Interventions
- I was so impressed in watching a small intervention group throw all of their energy and attitude into a fine motor control handwriting experience. We don't often acknowledge the amazing work of our Teaching Assistants and the children who succeeed becasuse of the whole team effort - well done everyone in making a difference!
Green Croxley Choir
We were delighted to welcome children from local primary and secondary schools to learn a shared song as part of our support of the Green Croxley group and their environmental initiative. Miss Gay lead the collage choir beautifully and they sounded amazing. Watch this space to hear about the final performance!
Blankets for new families by Val!
http://www.damehelenhyde.com/?page_id=456 Ms Val Madden, though sadly retired, is continuing with her knitting and crocheting, creating blankets for Dame Helen Hyde's support of new mothers in Rwanda. Well done Val and thank you to Carolyn Routlegde, partner of Helen, for collecting another batch of blankets!
Croxley Arts Café
Please come along and see more of the children's art work, including Year 6 Art project pieces, alongside other local school art being displayed at the Arts Café (alongside crafts, cakes and children's activities).
Saturday 22nd April, from 11am to 4pm at Croxley Baptist Church, Baldwins Lane
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
We are really excited to announce that FOLG is setting up it’s own online marketplace for parents to donate and buy second-hand sportswear and equipment on a new community based app called "Grassboots". With most donations priced between £1.00 to £5.00 it provides a fantastic opportunity to buy preloved kit for amazing value, especially during these difficult times. So, to join up, please go to your App store and download the “Grassboots.Club" app. When registering, link to Little Green School (FOLG) and you’re then good to go. Once an item is bought, contact the donater via the in-app messenger to arrange a collection time at the school gates...easy! This community focussed initiative gives the school and parents a great opportunity to recycle more, reduce waste and the majority of every sale goes towards fundraising targets for FOLG... so please join up and start donating and buying!
For more information please go to: www.grassboots.club or Facebook / Instagram @grassboots.club
