In assembly on Monday the children were able to share their acts of kindness carried out the previous week. These acts didn't happen by accident, but were planned by the children. The children then 'narrated' this learning as evidence not just that they did a kind thing, but they understood how and why. I am adding to this display showing the Intent, Model (Plan) and Impact of a few activities in the school - the model is universal:
We expect the same process with all of the children's learning. If a child can't talk about their learning, have they really understood what they did? Has it stuck in their longer term memory? Will they be able to recall it and build on it?
As a staff, we have been considering how we can further promote these opportunities for children to reflect and narrate their learning. for this reason.
Your children's ability to narrate (to evidence their own learning.) is the school's ability to narrate (evidence our own teaching impact.)
= Your children's success is at the very heart of the school's success! Let's keep them talking!
Emaan will be selling some Christmas badges to support children with cancer and leukaemia group. This charity provides support and help to families with children who fight cancer and use the money for research purposes,. We have a number of badges prices ranges from £1-£3. Please send in your child with an envelope and Emaan will be selling the badges in the Ethos lounge at lunchtime.
As teachers, we understand the importance of modelling a new area of learning for children - the model is their support and scaffold to access something new or more difficult. It is, therefore, quite inspirational to see children sharing their own acts of kindness - we can use these as wider models to support kind behaviour across the community. Thank you Hattie!:
Hattie has been trying to raise awareness and money for MENCAP recently. On Saturday, she took part in a Santa dash. She managed to raise 215 pounds (a further 30 pounds is being donated today taking the total to 245).
The photo attached is a collage of 5 pictures, one of which show the money raised.

Hattie’s Santa Dash For MENCAP
A while ago, I decided to raise money for MENCAP because I want to help people. MENCAP is a charity that helps when people have learning disabilities which includes adults and children. On Sunday, I ran a Santa Dash for 1km at the park and some of my family and friends sponsored me. I was dressed up as a green elf. At the park, lots of other children and grown ups were dressed up. I felt very happy because other people were all taking part in the race.
When I got to the park, it started raining heavily! All of the children had to do a warm up. Even though it was cold and rainy, I got on with it. I sped off well. I had a small break now and then but I finally got to the end! It was a fantastic feeling! I got a medal on a long, red string. Last year the medal had a reindeer on it but this year it was Father Christmas.
I raised £235 for MENCAP. Next year I am going to try and raise even more money to help people!
One Small Change Competition Winners!
It was wonderful to see some of the children driving their imaginative play with whatever they had to hand:
Mr Roberts: Wow! What are you guys doing?
Child 1: We are building the Great Wall of China!
Mr Roberts: Wow! Where is China?
Child 2: (points to space behind their construction) Here!
Child 3: and this is the sea! (pointing to puddle)
Child 4: When we put the box in the puddle it fills with water!
Mr Roberts: Why does that happen?
Child 3: It has a hole in it.
It was play time and I didn't want to take away from their utter joy in this imaginative play by delivering any facts or reality. It reminded me of the cartoon in the next section:
It can be very hard to take time to understand our children's behaviours before we act. As adults who were brought up in the dusk of 'Children should be seen and not heard' approaches, it can seem alien to give them space to share their ideas. This cartoon suggests we are all missing a whole world of wonder and imagination when we fail to listen. Imagination at play!
On Friday, the Little Green Girls Football team played their first league match of the season, away at St Joseph's in South Oxhey. The girls had a few weeks of tournaments and friendlies in preparation so felt confident and ready to get a good result. Due to a few players being unavailable, there was a debut for Vivienne who had a great first game for the team.
The first half started well, Little Green soon realising they were the stronger team, however having to content with the muddy condition of the pitch made it quite difficult for us to get the ball in the back of the net!
We were soon scoring goals and found ourselves winning 6-0 at half time. A few changes of position allowed us to push on even more in the second half, and with the light quickly fading, ended up finishing the game as 13-0 winners! A fantastic performance with goals galore, scorers were as follows:
Naomi x3, Eve x3, Olivia x3, Lilly W x1, Lily S x1, Ava x1, Own Goal x1
Player of the Match : Naomi (see image!)
Thank you for completing the parent survey which continues to show general positive sentiment. The governors are carefully analysing the information and comments and will share feedback after the next FGB in January.
