"If you don't fail, you haven't tried your best!"
Our child conceived, child created and child run competitions continue to be a source of excitement, imagination, risk taking and excellence! See below information on origami Masters, Planting Competition and our planned Competition Launch Bonanza on the 22nd May.
On Wednesday, it was a pleasure to welcome Shayaan, Eric, Kieran and Jayden to announce the winners of their origami competition. There were some very impressive entries. Well done to:
3rd place - Sam
2nd Place - Maan and Florenza
1st place - Abigail!
The boys are sorucing the prizes and these should be with you shortly!
Penny, Anjali and Issy also shared an update on their competition. They have brought the deadline forward to June and were also interested if anyone was entering. It was a relief and a joy to see almost 50 hands going up - well done for taking a risk and having a go - excellent!
Last Thursday we joined in the World Daily Mile run. The whole school were out in force getting active, getting outside and getting moving. Thank you to Mr Rivers for coordinating the day and to Mr Lloyd for coming to support the event and also promote Park Run for kids. There are now three park runs available to children in the local area: Cassiobury, Leavesden and Mill End. More information available:

The competition frenzy has not yet abated. We currently have 37 competition ideas in development!
With that in mind, we have decided to have a MASS competition launch before half term to share a range of competition opportunities for all of the pupils. Each competition will be launched on the 22nd May and we will add more details to the Newsweb for each. We have challenged the children to have a go at, at least, one competition - take a risk and have a go! More information next week!
We are very excited to announce the circus is coming to Little Green School for 2 days 9th and 10th June 2023. The main show is on the 10th June 2023. There are three shows. Please see poster attached.
Please book tickets now for the 10th June 2023 to avoid disappointment as limited space.
Each individual needs a ticket. Under 2's are free.
Reminder year 6 children who are going to Rickmansworth school have CAT test that day so later show might be best.
We will need some volunteers to help with some stalls so if you are able to help please let us know by emailing folg@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk.
In assembly today we learnt abut the history of the coronation and discussed what the coronation means to the children. The children have also enjoyed joining in the celebration of red, white and blue and trying out some coronation chicken (my favourite!) We discussed the monarchy and finished the assembly with a rousing singing of the national anthem. Do enjoy your extra Bank Holiday this weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!
Ruth Perry R.I.P.
I am very proud of our school community and the efforts everyone goes to in making a difference at Little Green every single day. This is reflected in our very positive inspection report which we share with you today. It is also captured in the kind words of our talented and committed governing body who work hard to make sure we are trying our best: Governor's Ofsted Response. I do hope you have the chance to read their email sent today also.
As a school we feel that a two day inspection may not manage to capture all of the incredible detail and approaches we have all been working on for five years so we are also working on an Ofsted explanation guide to help you see what the two pages means at Little Green for you and your children. We look forward to sharing this with you and hearing your feedback in the coming weeks once we have navigated SATs and PGL!
Putting this into perspective, we are all acutely aware of the criticism of the current Ofsted system and the tragic loss of a colleague following her own Ofsted experience. The need for external inspection is clear, however inspection can be achieved more regularly, supportively and developmentally, reflecting the wider context of schools and the challenges faced.
In memory of a lost colleague, we have tried to avoid celebrating our report as a headline. However, we will continue to celebrate the ongoing successes and achievements of the Little Green Community. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.

The report should also be going live on the Ofsted website from today. Ofsted website:
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
We are really excited to announce that FOLG is setting up it’s own online marketplace for parents to donate and buy second-hand sportswear and equipment on a new community based app called "Grassboots". With most donations priced between £1.00 to £5.00 it provides a fantastic opportunity to buy preloved kit for amazing value, especially during these difficult times. So, to join up, please go to your App store and download the “Grassboots.Club" app. When registering, link to Little Green School (FOLG) and you’re then good to go. Once an item is bought, contact the donater via the in-app messenger to arrange a collection time at the school gates...easy! This community focussed initiative gives the school and parents a great opportunity to recycle more, reduce waste and the majority of every sale goes towards fundraising targets for FOLG... so please join up and start donating and buying!
For more information please go to: www.grassboots.club or Facebook / Instagram @grassboots.club
Stationery sets
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
Upcoming events
Sponsored Fun Run: Friday 31st March - details to follow
Finally, does anyone has a hamper basket they no longer want? We would love it for summer event!
Mon 08/05 - Coronation Bank Holiday
Tue 09/05 - Fri12/05: SATs week in Year 6
NOTES:
Please do show kindness to everyone when using all of the paths to and from school. The end of the day is always a busy time and, as requested by parents, we do have a 2-way system. Many thanks for supporting the community.
CAR PARK REMINDER
Just a polite reminder that parents should not be driving into the car park for any reason. Only Blue Badge holders should be accessing the car park. Thank you.
