The whole school walk The Green to All Saints Church for the carols
It has been a truly wonderful celebration of Christmas this last week. We have been so lucky with the hard work and support of so many helping and driving the enthusiasm of the children. Take a look below for a snippet of the joy children have shared. Even more impressive is the continued focus on learning in between these events, ensuring that children are in the best possible academic place before the short winter break. Please do practice the basics with them at home - Reading, Doodle Maths, TT Rockstar etc. Today, I completed a TT Rockstars Challenge (after multiple reminders!) and was pleased with my score of 32. However, I was still beaten by three children with one amassing 84 questions in the same period! I must work on my technique! We will have had Christmas Dinner by the time you read this and we also look forward to our Celebration Assembly on the last day of term when the Raffle Ticket House Draw will select our £25 Amazon voucher winners - prize chosen by the children - Good luck!
This will be the last Newsweb of the calendar year so, from all of us at Little Green,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We return on Monday 8th January 2024!
Joyous Christmas Carol Celebration!
The whole school and many parents squeeze into the hall to enjoy an incredible carol experience. We wish we could take more but fire regulations and hall capacity dictate numbers. I have looked to find a larger location but there is nothing equivalent we could easily reach. If you have a large capacity cathedral in your back garden, please let me know!
A continuing success of Little Green is the effort the teachers put in to ensuring all children experience the opportunity to develop their voice and perform to others. At the end of the Christmas Production one child whispered this to me walking down the stairs...I asked her to write it down and she sent in the following:
"I was scared at first but once you have done it one time it becomes fun! from Sophie. p.s. thanks to the teachers for making it happen!"
And we received a lovely email from one parent which says it all:
"Good morning Mr Roberts, Mr Flint, Mr Rivers, Mr Whitelaw, and the rest of the Year 4 team (I am sorry for the other staff names I did not catch or know) [Miss Muckell, Ms Lockhart, Ms Dacaj!]
Yesterday we attended the Year 4 play to watch [our child] and her class and yearmates. We were completely blown away by the performance. The children, it is safe to say, were absolutely exceptional and they all clearly had a blast doing it.
I noticed that confidence was sky high and there were very few nerves. There was nothing half hearted about this performance, especially when the kids were belting out the Oasis cover.
That was obviously going to be enjoyable for us as parents, because it makes us proud of our children for doing so well.
But I wanted to let you know that what made it extra special was what I saw between the children and staff. The dialogue (and shouting!) between the children and Mr Roberts on the stage during the end shows a real bond which I am sure is the culture within the school you are working hard to achieve.
I was also extremely impressed (couldn't believe it) that the play was written by staff. Congratulations on an amazing achievement, it was enjoyable and genuinely funny.
I'm sure that it takes a lot of effort to pull this off, but I just wanted to let you know that it really shows.
As parents we only get to see "behind the curtain" occasionally and when the atmosphere and feeling is that good, you know something special is happening at Little Green.
Thank you all for making it that way and keep doing what you are doing."
Thank you the Herts Catering Staff and School Staff for serving up a delicious Christmas Lunch today. The children all enjoyed a cracker including our packed lunchers! The food was delicious and it was a lovely place to be. Thank you to Miss Sedgwick for her coordinating skills and her Elf dress up efforts!
Christmas gift bag appeal for New Hope
We had an amazing response to the Christmas gift bag appeal and the children and families should be very proud of themselves! We received a total of 66 gift bags, ensuring that all 26 children and their families will receive something for Christmas.
Some children from the school took the gift bags to the New Hope shop on New Road, and the team there will ensure all families receive their gifts.
This really is an overwhelming response and an amazing act of kindness, especially in tough times.
It is also lovely to share that the Year 4 Production guests gave £200.62 for the New Hope charity.
Thank you Community!
And that’s a “wrap”!
THANK YOU to all our incredible helpers for the last two days of Elfridges, to all the people who wrapped gifts (well over 1000!) and turned up on the day.
We couldn’t have done it without you.
The biggest THANK YOU however, must go to the children. They were SO well behaved and their manners were on the whole, impeccable. It was an absolute pleasure to do and we hope you are all very happy with the gift your child chose.
Thank you as always for supporting this lovely event.

Explorers Christmas Decoration Thank you!
Thank you again to the wonderful parents who supported the Explorers in Decoration Creation. It has really helped the festive feel!
Just finished this - Operation Nativity.
Great fun, festive adventure story. Easy reading - not too serious but with characters we can relate to and a lovely Christmas message. Watch out for the sad ending, but a 'feel good story'.

TaeKwon-Do Club
Student of the Year!
Logan was awarded Student of the Year during his club's TaeKwon-Do Tournament. This is a massive achievement and we are all very proud of him. He also won a silver medal for his flying side kick and a bronze medal for sparring.
Ms Kelly teaches TaeKwon-Do at Little Green for Total TK school!
If you are inspired by Logan's great habits - why not give it a go and start a new habit in the new year!
Congratulations to the senior leaders who have completed the NPQ process and have successfully achieved NPQs in Senior Leadership or Headship. The team worked incredibly hard whilst continuing to drive positive school changes and it is a pleasure to lead such a committed and driven team of effective teachers and leaders.
Practising what I preach, I successfully failed the Executive Headship NPQ - 3.5 marks off - but a fail is a fail! My feedback was to add more detail (if you read the Newsweb, you will know this is a personal strength.) I will be resubmitting in the spring term and humbly learning from this failure.
Mistakes Prove we are trying!
Regardless of the outcome, the experience of the NPQs for the whole school has been very beneficial, allowing us to share and understand the same research and approaches and driving our focus on curriculum changes and developing CPD. This takes us to nine successful NPQ successes (one hopefully pending) and Miss Brauka beginning this year - what a talented bunch of leaders we have!
These postcards are double sided and share our close links and shared school approaches across the Malvern Way Little Green Experience.
Thanks Mr Flint! Keep an eye out in a future My Croxley for more celebrations and spread the word! We have eight pupil places across the school and would love to welcome new families to our community!
