In Monday's assembly this week, we shared a film of Mr Lloyd (Chair of Governors) sharing some of his inspiring work for the charity the Tear Fund. We then discussed how we can all inspire and be inspiring to others around school. It is a pleasure to share a range of inspirational achievements from the Little Green Community. Thank you for inspiring us!
Year 5 Maths Challenge
This afternoon, some children from Year 5 represented our school in the Hertfordshire International Maths Challenge against other schools in the county and even schools from abroad! They all worked really well together and we await the result with anticipation. Well done Rory, Aditiya, Evan, Larry, Milo, Rishi, Shiven and Shivanshi.
Year 6 Community Choir
Today, the Year 6 children in choir had the wonderful opportunity of joining the York House choir for the day. We learnt four new songs, made new friends and got to perform all we had learnt at the end of the day.
Two weeks ago, our fantastic Year 6s hopped on a train at Croxley Met station and headed into the city to visit the Tate Modern, looking for inspiration for their 'Modern Art Project'. Everyone enjoyed the trip and the behaviour of the children on the underground and around the gallery was stunning (...and commented on by the public). We now look forward to seeing what the children produce in the coming weeks.
Inspiring Isla and Martha successfully medaling at a national competition
It was a pleasure to welcome our inspiring governors to our Spring Governor Link Afternoon checking, challenging and validating our learning approach and our subject leaders. We are always striving to make things better and it is positive to see that these efforts are having a positive impact in the Governors headline review of the afternoon. We are currenrtly working on some Governor Bios so you can have a little more information about the significant talent knowledge and expertise that the school is able to draw upon when develop and reviewing strategy, impact and development.
Little Green Girls Football Team have managed the unbelievable achievement of becoming the Premier League Primary Stars Watford FC Regional Champions for the second year in a row! The team battled against 31 other schools in a tournament held at Watford FC's training ground in London Colney, where they remained unbeaten and only conceded a single goal all day, scoring 33 goals in return. All of the girls in the team had a big part to play towards the success and played some unbelievable football together, showing a real passion and togetherness when it really mattered. The girls are all looking forward to representing Watford FC in the East England Regional tournament next week, with the top 2 teams from that competition getting the chance to compete in the National Final held at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds. Well done to the team, families and Mr. Rivers for another positive sporting experience!
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
We are really excited to announce that FOLG is setting up it’s own online marketplace for parents to donate and buy second-hand sportswear and equipment on a new community based app called "Grassboots". With most donations priced between £1.00 to £5.00 it provides a fantastic opportunity to buy preloved kit for amazing value, especially during these difficult times. So, to join up, please go to your App store and download the “Grassboots.Club" app. When registering, link to Little Green School (FOLG) and you’re then good to go. Once an item is bought, contact the donater via the in-app messenger to arrange a collection time at the school gates...easy! This community focussed initiative gives the school and parents a great opportunity to recycle more, reduce waste and the majority of every sale goes towards fundraising targets for FOLG... so please join up and start donating and buying!
For more information please go to: www.grassboots.club or Facebook / Instagram @grassboots.club
