Electric Umbrella "One of the best things I've seen in 20 years!" School TA
Dear Parents and Carers,
Having successfully helped to set up the Little Green Breakfast and After School Club, due to a change in circumstances, Miss Swinchatt will unfortunately be stepping down from September.
We are therefore looking for a new Manager to take the lead in running our established Clubs, working alongside the existing staff and School Management team. An application form and job description is attached.
If you would be interested in finding out more about the role, we would encourage you to visit the School. Please contact the School Office in the first instance to arrange a visit or to ask for more information.
Please also do share this with anyone you feel may be interested.
Kind regards,
The Little Green Team

It was a pleasure to welcome the majority of our governors to our summer link afternoon. These Link days are the governors opportunity to connect the strategic thinking with the on-the-ground reality of Little Green. Is the theory matching the practice? What could be even better? What questions or suggestions could support the school? The governors recognised a lot of positive prior learning reflections; checking of understanding; and effective writing assessment moderation. Two things we will be looking at based on their feedback are developing our whole class sorry approach and considering a mindfulness pause after exciting and hot PE lessons. A huge thank you to our governors - volunteers who give their time and expertise to support their learning community. We will have a parent opportunity coming soon, so do consider if you are able and willing to help the school be the best it can be!
It was a pleasure to see so many children and families enjoying the talented Circus Sensible and having a play with all of the circus equipment. A HUGE thank you to the FOLG team who put these events together in their limited free time for the benefit of the whole community. Thank you also to everyone that volunteered including governors, parents and staff. A community coming together and a lovely weekend all round.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Revels tomorrow. Come and support our Year 3 team as they enter the crucible, we call Push Ball!
Have a lovely weekend!
At Little Green we are blessed with incredible grounds. This can be a mixed blessing when supporting 360 children to have fun whilst remaining safe, kind and positive! On Tuesday, Miss Muckell and Miss Sedgwick shared the field guidance and rules to ensure that all of the children understand how to enjoy the field safely. We also reminded the children of the importance of sun cream, hats and water repeating messages we have been sending out to parents. I look forward to sharing some summertime fun pictures in the coming weeks!
Our competitions are slowly starting to see some entries. The Website now has two more sets of slides for a 'Draw your teacher' competition and a 'Junk Modelling' competition. Here's the link if you missed it. https://sites.google.com/littlegreen.herts.sch.uk/lgstudentcomps/home
For all competitions (other than the two below) the closing date is the 10th July! Please note we have extended the closing date for the Planting Competition to next Wednesday and hope to see some lovely plants coming in to school to support Mr Whitelaw's lonely ginger.
So far Mr Whitelaw has brought in two impressive plants. Please do bring in or send in pictures of your plant to admin@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk. The girls aim to judge these next week and announce the winner soon after!
Isley and Jessica had the great idea of a post-circus Litter Pick Competition between the different year groups to tidy up any extra rubbish after the event. We announce the winning Year Group on Monday!
SACRE is the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (and World Views) which each County must set up. The Council identifies the way in which RE will be taught in all community schools. We are very lucky to have Mrs. MacKintosh representing the school and community on the board. This year, after many months of hard work, the council began sharing the new SACRE plans for 2023-2028. Last Wednesday we had the pleasure in hosting the SACRE launch for our local area inviting over 20 REWV teachers, together with all of our teachers. This will help ensure Little Green staff are well trained and supported on our Religious Education and World Views Curriculum responsibilities.
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome 'Electric Umbrella' into our school on Thursday afternoon. The children joined in and, despite the heat in the hall, got stuck in to all the songs and laughed along with the jokes!
One of Electric Umbrella's messages is that there is 'no such thing as normal'. We completely agree and I'm sure many of the children were able to see the link between yesterday's message and the work we did at the start of the year about celebrating our individuality. We can all support each other and to be our best.

A few weeks ago we had the most amazing art gallery exhibition, show casing the Year 6 children's Tate Modern Art Gallery Trip inspired modern art interpretations and creations - see pictures at the end of this web page below.
Children were able to share their successes with friends and family and even had some learning displayed at a local café. We were truly amazed by the quality of the work and the efforts and care taken to create such professional looking pieces.
Well done to everyone involved!
