Inspiring Learning
We all recognise the critical role played by our wider community in supporting our children to learn. Children spend only around 15% of their waking hours in school so every opportunity to inspire, promote, encourage and enable them to learn outside of the classroom is a vitally important part of our partnership as a community. I was delighted to see a Year 3 enjoying her learning outside of school with a beach Stone Henge! Inspirational Poppy!
Thank you to Mrs Rowland, our Pastoral Lead, for inspiring all the children to feel some good during feeling good week...
All of the children have enjoyed participating in their first Little Green 'Feeling Good Week'. We have discussed and shared lots of ideas about beauty and what it means to be positive. We started the week looking at Bumpman and everyone had a go at sketching their own version of the sculpture.
Year 6 sketches of the Bump Man demonstrated their developing pencil sketching talents and allowed them to communicate ideas around body positivity
Everyone tried to make the bumps look 3D by using shading to add more detail to their work. Later on this week, we read the book 'The Barnabus Project', when reading the book we thought carefully about the character's feelings and how they might feel about their bodies when they are called 'Failed Projects'.
The highlight of the week has been making our very own 'Failed Projects' out of clay. We tried to use the Slip and Score technique to attach different sections of clay to make different body parts for our Perfect Pet.
Well done to everyone in school for a great week of learning!
Well done to Mr Hyde for continuing to inspire a love of reading across Little Green. As an early World Book Day celebration, we were incredibly lucky to have been visited by Konnie Huq today in what was an inspiring and enjoyable event for the whole school. Children enjoyed watching Konnie’s science experiments and learning how to illustrate the characters in her books. Here's the link to buy more books:
Parents can still purchase a signed copy of the book before Sun 27th Feb using the following link:

On the last day before half term, the Little Green Football Team travelled to Yorke Mead to play their first league match of the season. The team have done really well so far this year, winning a couple of their friendlies and narrowly missing out in the WIX cup before Christmas. A massive congratulations with a fantastic performance from Player of the Match - Thomas L!
On Tuesday, Little Green played football against Rickmansworth Park in our second league match of the month. The team played unbelievably well and won the game 8-1. A great performance from all of the players but for his second half performance in particular and 2 smashing goals, Player of the Match - Ollie.
Well done Mr Rivers for continuing to inspire children to try their best in sport. Some more wonderful successes reflecting the high quality PE lessons being taught across the school led by our PE team of Mr Rivers, Miss Muckell and Miss Sedgwick.
We had a little feedback from parents regarding our pre-half-term on-line safety themed Newsweb. We are all in agreement that we want to keep the children safe whilst allowing them to develop the skills needed to succeed in the modern world. We all also recognise the difficulties in ensuring this for a whole school. Mr Flint and I are trying to find the best way of developing a one device per child approach in school to support this process - exciting times!
With our phone approach, it was very useful and helpful to get parental perspectives on the issue. As always there were two strong camps from the 22 respondents: (See the Survey snapshots below.)
Children should not have phones at all ever to avoid the potentially amazing but dangerous cyber world.
Children should be given phones as soon as possible to learn how to safely navigate the amazing but potentially dangerous cyber world
Thank you to all the parents that got in contact to discuss this further. Through dialogue, we are looking at how we can develop a consent form for phones on site that would include parents demonstrating they have taken some training in how to keep their children safe on line.
A carefully considered and evidenced consent approach would allow those that want their children to have phones, to have phones and vice-versa.
We are currently investigating this idea further to identify a successful and reasonable certified course that would give parents the skills and information they need to know how best to support their children to be safe. Once we have a working plan, we will, again, ask for your own questions and suggestions to make sure we develop something that works.
Do report your children's positive cases here:

As we begin the transition to living with Covid, I am pleased to report that our Covid numbers have remained low since the beginning of term with only 4 cases reported. This is including the half-term holiday.
We continue to follow the latest Government guidance and this can be accessed here:
Next week, we will revert back to lunches in the dining hall, and we are delighted to welcome our volunteers back in to the school.

NOTES:
Little Request: We are developing our display of 'motivation' to show faces of people working hard and feeling challenged but getting on with 'Doing it!' Please do try and capture some of the struggles of motivation so we can drive the realities of working hard with the whole school community - #attitude to learning!
CAR PARK REMINDER
Just a polite reminder that parents should not be driving into the car park for any reason. Only Blue Badge holders should be accessing the car park. Thank you.
