CURRICULUM
Celebrating your school, your children, your community, yourselves!
We are very proud of the way we have developed our curriculum to be engaging, promoting purposeful, hands-on, real-life connected, collaborative, challenging learning! (There's a mouthful!) If you are interested, take a look at our Curriculum Research and Development Pages to see the carefully considered, mapped and implemented Curriculum approaches to date HERE AND have a look at the next steps in our Curriculum HERE. Please watch these spaces as more actions are developed and shared.
But the real proof of the pudding is what the children do - see our Blog - AND say - here's a comment from a parent received today:
"Also just so you know X said this the other day :
We 're making something in DT, it's going to be a moving toy. Do you remember when we made our photo frames in Year 3 from wood, well we're going to be building on these skills as we will need to make wooden frames, but then make them 3D.
That's what language you want from children isn't it?"
YES IT IS!
In DfE speak - A Cumulative Sequence of learning.
In human speak - A Hands-On, Real Life, Purposeful, Collaborative Challenging, Choice- and Voice-filled Learning Experience!
Still only 16/612 responses to our Poll. Please do take the time to share your feedback. Currently:
Some changes requested - majority (of 15) happy with process.
10/16 parents (10/612) would prefer meetings in the classroom. Historically we have used the hall to ensure staff are looked after and that we keep to time. I will survey the teachers and share their views!
Thank you for the feedback. we will take the suggestions and create a Virtual Drop In Timetable and share this with you (once!)
What topics or themes would interest you?7 responses
-Wellbeing for children/teachers
-community collaborating, helping parents of misbehaving children to understand sometimes it really is NOT the parents of that child so creating an even more lonely space effects the mental wellbeing of the parent even worse (not being a victim here)
-Homework & how to develop learning at home on specific subjects with examples.
-Future topics children will be encountering
-Curriculum themes / life skills / nutrition
-Support for parents in helping their child with home learning; support for parents in understanding the specific teaching strategies that our kids experience so that we can reinforce these at home during home learning; just general opportunity to feedback for parents...
(14/612 responses) Currently, we will offer a range of times with the majority in the evening. and with content aiming to match the requests in the next question.
We are currently devising an updated communication strategy and it looks like instagram/ You tube are the clear current parent body favourites (15/612 at least!)

Stationery sets
Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
Wed 22/11: Year 6 Swimming at York House School
Fri 24/11: Year 6 walk to New Road
