NEWSWEB TAKE OVER!
We really want everyone to walk or ride or scoot to school during bike to school week next week... If you live far away, you can drive and park a little further away from the school - check out Hugo's map for some ideas. Together, we can make the school healthy and safe and wonderful for everyone. If you can't ride, walking is fine too! Let's do this! From the Road Safety Council

Have you noticed, recently, how many people park their cars and fill up the roads and pavements around Little Green School during drop-off and pick-up times?
We all know the road safety rules - to stop, look and listen before crossing….but what happens when parked cars (vans etc) make it impossible to see if it’s safe?
Parking a tiny bit further away could REALLY make the roads near school much safer for everybody, plus it enhances your fitness, and is better for the air quality near school.
Please do your part....here is a map with some ideas of places to park / not park...let us know what you think!
The leaves are green and the sky is blue.
Let's make the world a better place for me and you.
Ride to school on your scooter or bike,
So you feel alright.
Your friends and you will have some fun.
If you walk to school one by one.
Let's make the world great
By walking to the school gate.
Try your best to walk.
So you have more time to talk!

The reason I want to be on the road safety committee is because I want everybody to get to school safely. How I want to do this is to encourage kids to bike, walk, scoot or any other thing in this category. This will avoid traffic and help us be more environmentally friendly. If we can help the planet with road safety we can help ourselves. If there are too many cars parked the residents can’t get in and out of their houses so let's do our best to help them and us.
Here's the Slides that the council shared on Friday during their house assembly.
Here's a picture from Nia to remind you that you can scoot or even walk to school also - it's about healthy journeys to school.
Here's a poster that invites you to win a Frog bike!

Well done to those of you who were able to support the Community Litter Pick yesterday, after school, an event organised by the Parish Council to celebrate the Big Green Week.
We are really proud of our children who have been inspired to make their mark at school this week, by litter picking at lunchtimes around our school grounds.
As part of the local community, we are working with ‘Green Croxley’ and the other local schools to promote The Great Big Green Week. This is a national initiative running between 18th and 26th September 2021 and thousands of environmental events are taking place across the country run by local communities. Details of other events you may like to get involved with are below.
We also know how creative our Little Green pupils are, so I am sure many of them will be delighted to read about an exciting competition that is now open and ready for entries. We will be thinking about what small changes we can make that will make a difference to our local community and the environment, to encourage and inspire the children too. Please bring any entries to school for your child's class teacher and Mrs Rowland will pass on all of our entries. Good luck!
Another Big Green Week activity includes an Open Day on Croxley Common Moor this Saturday 26th September (12 noon – 4pm).
Other local events advertised on the Watford and Three Rivers Big Green Week webpage: https://greenwatford.uk/greenweek/..
You can also search for events on the national Big Green Week site:https://greatbiggreenweek.com/find-an-event/.
Jensen's 3D Ethos Printing Powers - We love our new House animals trophies. These will be awarded to the class in each House collecting the most Raffle Tickets each week.
Logan our Litter Picking Legend!
Well done to Logan and his brother who collected 3.6Kg of waste during the litter pick- the most for the day! You are never to small to make a difference!
We've been delighted to see the fantastic learning opportunities the children have been embracing. We will be adding these to the school website so you can talk to your child about their learning. Here is a flavour to get you interested:
Self-Portraiture in Year 5:
Children in Year 5 developing their drawing and painting skills
Understanding Computing on a macrolevel!
Year 4 learnt about how information moves around the internet by creating a model using: themselves, whiteboards and post-it notes as a series of data, network switches and routers.
They had to watch out for the messages that couldn’t be verified and hope that their ‘network switch’ didn’t deliver them by mistake!
