Building Success
In this week's Monday Assembly we used the metaphor of a building to think about the best way for us to be successful. We looked at three ways people approach building their success. This will lead to a fourth way next week - I wonder if you will see where this is going...
Here are the three ways we discussed:
You focus hard on building your own building the best it can be - trying your best.
You build your building but also put effort into breaking other's buildings - trying your worst.
You don't build anything and spend all your time criticizing everyone else - fear of trying/not trying.
We all agreed we preferred number 1 from these options: We will all try our best...but is there an even better way - what will the fourth way be?!
Parent Survey Feedback - Summer
As we look forward to welcoming you to the school or virtually for parental consultations, it is also the time of year when we ask for your views on what is working well and what could be better. We pride ourselves on our transparency and willingness to reflect on reasonable feedback. Like everyone, we know we get things wrong and we are always keen to learn from our mistakes and develop systems to make things better. Thank you to everyone who shared their views in July. There were a lot of positives - the vast majority of parents who responded feel their children are safe, and learning effectively. Nevertheless, there was an increase in some disagree statements that, whilst relatively low, do make us ask questions about our practice. We acknowledge and address these below:
-12 respondents (clustered to specific classes) did not agree that there was a good standard of behaviour at Little Green
We had a challenging time managing behaviour whilst working within bubbles. Whilst we believe our systems were working, we also knew they were limited due to covid bubbles and the availability of extra support. From May half-term we were able to launch the Ready to Learn Room for all children - a space to offer support for children struggling to regulate their behaviour away from their peers. We believe the impact of this support has been incredibly positive for those children and the whole school community. Let us know what you think in the survey!
- 25 respondents (clustered to specific classes) did not believe their children had been well taught.
As a school we work hard to ensure that all children receive an equitable high quality of teaching across their four years with us. Like all industries and professions, we have a range of staff with a range of experience and skills. Supporting this reality has been made more challenging by Covid bubbles; the teacher recruitment crisis and very sadly for Little Green, some challenging and unpredictable long staff absences. Please be assured that we work hard to minimise the impacts of these challenges whilst also recognising this impact and ensuring that future staffing decisions reflect these unavoidable experiences. We have also driven a further collaborative development to our CPD approach which is seeing significant collaboration and professional development! We hope that is your experience also - do let us know in the survey!
In short, please do let us know if you agree with these assessments or if we are missing something - (New survey next week!) - we all want the same thing: the best possible learning experience for our children and community!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Roberts and the Little Green Team
